The excellent #mnacacia free pattern and #comoxtrunks have been tweaked and personalised until I’m now at the point of having both our drawers stuffed with fully handmade undies ☺️ They’re usually made from remnants or scraps from other projects, or cut up garments that have served their time and need a new life. Thanks to @nelliejoans for hosting the embroidery challenge for the #inspirejulychallenge! I had so much fun doing this. I used a simple running stitch on some bra tulle, following the natural lines of the tulle to create some geometric diagonal lines and diamond shapes. It took me a while, but I was quite pedantic about it and literally counted out the holes between rows to make sure they were even 😁 then whipped up some @megannielsenpatterns Acacia briefs to match. Fourth and final entry for the #inspirejulychallenge complete! This week was embroidery week with @nelliejoans, and I followed her tutorial to embroider on some white bra tulle to make this @orange_lingerie Boylston bra. I have to say, this challenge really opened my eyes to the possibilities of embroidery in lingerie making - it's like making your own fabric! While it took me longer than expected, doing the embroidery was a great mindfulness exercise, especially with the simple design I chose. I made an autumnal set to add to my autumn wardrobe. One of my priorities this year is to use what I have before buying more and this set is a testament to that. The lace was purchased on sale from Backstreet Bargains last year and from memory cost me about $2.50 on clearance. The foam, elastics, rings and sliders, power mesh, hooks and eyes and bra tulle were all from my stash. The orange knit was leftover from another project, the blue spot tulle which was added to cover the powernet was harvested from a new unworn pair of underwear from rtw set that I didn’t like and the underwires were upcycled from an old bra. Oh and the bow I think was a gift with purchase from way back. This was a pretty much cobbled together set from what I had. B asked for a 'brown' sweater last year, which I managed to sneak in some colour blocking for my own selfish reasons 😆 But alas, she has not given up on her vision all this time... so here it is - the ALL-brown 'Doggy' sweater, complete with spots and a collar tag to match her favourite role model 🐕 She did complain that there was 'not enough detail' on the tag, but I had to draw the line somewhere 🤪😆 A few more knit basics will be needed very soon for the 7yo (the seemingly ongoing growth spurt!), but firstly some essential comfy undergarments... I made a matching underwear set for myself. The bra is Mara bralette by Studio Costura. This is the third time making the bralette. On the first version I did not do any pattern adjustments and the bralette was ok, but the cups were too far apart. On the second version I took out a bit from the center but those ended up beeing too small. Now I took a bigger cup size and then removed again a bit from the center. Also added some lenght to the back piece. The bralette with these adjustments seems to fit now very well. Two new sewing workshops added beginning in March. We have a 4 week Learn to sew Knits course. We will demistify sewing with knit fabric while making underwear, a classic t- shirt and pencil skirt. I had already cut it out but other than that I put it together in a few hours. Wow, can't believe it's already December! I have not been in the mood to sew, knit or crochet these past couple of months.... I finally got the sewing bug when I made the placemats for my new dining table, but then I couldn't decide what to make next 🤪 Instead of buying new fabric, my goal this month is to use what I already have and I happen to have this 100% cotton knit fabric for the #mnacacia underwear by @megannielsenpatterns ! I used up the rest of my picot elastic from @stitchlovestudio for the waistband and used regular 1/4 in elastic for the legs. I really liked the mix of stretch satin and the lace. I actually used the @megannielsenpatterns #mnacacia panties as a base and then chopped it up to have it half satin and half lace. Also lowered the side seams to make it more of a girl boxer style as my cleaner asked for. So this project has been on my sewing table since mid December last year😅🙈 I don’t know why though, apart from the fact that I had to order elastics in the right colour there was no reason for me not to finish this project. And those elastics arrived last year… But this project was taking up creative energy that I now freed up so I’m glad that I finished it, next up is another project that has been around for awhile when I did some batch cutting. Experimental #mnacacia pants made using a cover stitch machine for the seams and leg elastic. It does work, but I’m not sure if it’s any better than overlocker or stretch stitching. Sorry if they give anybody a migraine… 😵‍💫

Here's the small finished portion of the big stack of underwear I cut out over the weekend. I get tired of quartering, pinning, and sewing all those passes of elastic, so I'll probably finish them over the next day or two. Aren't these just the cutest though??? The 🍅s! I printed these fabrics from @spoonflower for other projects and I had nice size pieces left over that were too small for anything other than underwear. The jersey is so soft and nice quality. Custom printing fabric is expensive, so it's nice to get the most out of it 😅 I was also able to use up some of the leftover lingerie elastics I've saved from kits too. The pretty white zigzag trim is from a very old @mmadalynne kit 🤍 and the cute white decorative edge FOE is from @studiocosturashop and it is soooo soft and perfect for underwear. The best part about the fold over elastic is that you only need to do one pass to finish the edge and it's so much faster! The pretty ecru colored FOE is from @sophie_hines (I stocked up on a ton of FOE during one of her sales 😍) and I paired that with a wide red elastic waistband for a sporty pair. Those are my favorite out of this set. The wide waistband is soft and feels supportive ❤️ the cute ivory scalloped elastic has been with me long enough to not know where it came from. It could have easily been given to me as well. I think that when it's paired with this garden print, it has a cute country style 🤍These are all so comfy and cute! It'll be so satisfying to finish the rest! Happy sewing everyone!
