I made a canvas romper using the #mndurbanjumpsuit by @megannielsenpatterns and just widened the hips, and legs of the bottom part of the romper. I made it for gardening and DIY home projects, and broke it in yesterday painting our front door. Isn’t it a cheerful green? Romper details: Canvas is from @blackbirdfabrics Wooden buttons I thrifted ages agoooo Used the #mndurbanjumpsuit pattern and cut out a 4 and added width to make it looser. It’s probably 2 sizes bigger on the bottom at least. Used double top stitching for durability and looks. It’s just how I imagined 😊 I hope I got paint on it already

🫐 💜🫐 Finally posting the dress I made for the wedding I went to last month 🙃 I fell in love with this fabric as soon as I spotted it in a fabric shop in Benin 💜 So I decided to use it to make my dress for the wedding and wanted to keep it simple to let the fabric shine. It was my first time creating shirring, @burieddiamond 's tutorials were so helpful! For the top, I used the top of the Durban Jumpsuit, removed the front button placket, and lengthened its size in width x1.5 (both for the back and front bodice). And just added length for the dress to hit my ankles. The drape of the Viscose meant that the slight pull in the bust area in my linen cotton toile is a non-issue now luckily 😄 It is the perfect fabric for the wide leg cut too. This fabric (from @fabmoinc ) was probably going to be a bedspread or curtains…in the 80s. I had a similar vibe going on in my bedroom. Flowers, pink, and more pink. And it’s still in my childhood room in my folks’ summer house. I don’t remember choosing any of it (I probably didn’t) and I remember strongly disliking it as a teen. My mom would laugh at me now for covering my whole body in flowers…ha ha. Once again, this is the #mndurbanjumpsuit from @megannielsenpatterns but hacked to have a zipper front and elastic waist and a collar. My zipper looks so much better this time, but for some reason it doesn’t fully line up at the top…so I’ll be keeping it slightly unzipped. For this version I took a l little off the top of the back pants and the fit is so much better! I didn’t expect the fit to come in this much with that one adjustment. I placed the bottom of the elastic at the top of the waist seam and I wonder if it’s a bit high…but honestly not sure I want to do the work to move it. I’ll wear it a few times first. I sewed! This was a long term project inspired by the jumpsuits from Beaton Studio. I used the #durbanjumpsuit (#mndurban #mndurbanjumpsuit )pattern from @megannielsenpatterns . I sewed a size 4 with some modifications noted below. This fabric is heavy weight linen from @fabricsstorecom , and so far it’s very comfy, and only a little saggy in the behind. Modifications: -Removed bust darts; this shortened the bodice length which worked perfectly for me because I am shorter than the pattern is drafted for -Moved the shoulder seam in slightly -Shortened rise -Increased inseam -Replaced neck facing with bias binding using a tutorial from Closet Core -Removed inseam pockets -Added front inset pockets using instructions from the Anna Allen Persephone Pants. Eek!!! My strawberry durban finally on the grid🥰🍓🍰💕♥️💗 I don't like jumpsuits, as cute as they are, I find them wildly unpractical for my lifestyle. But I am a human who wants to grow and challenge my beliefs so I've been scouting about for a jumpsuit. I came across the #mndurban and knew it would be worth a shot since the dawn jeans fit me well. I had this #bflinen which I purchased for something else, but a summery vision (1950s meets this one Farm Rio dress that's been stuck in my head) was coming together, so I decided to use it for this make instead. I really enjoyed the tediousness of pattern matching a garment like this, I think it's my best pattern matching ever actually?! So thrilled with these jeans! I hacked the (fantastic) #mndurban jumpsuit by using just the pants pattern, cutting off 2" in length at the waist (rise) and making jeans front pockets and fly zipper. Voila! A worker pant style jean that I've been dreaming of without having to buy and fit a new pattern. No one designs pants like Megan Nielsen. 🌸 Big (fake) Spring Energy 🌸 . . . It’s here! My oft-dreamed-of nooworks/big bud press-inspired @libertyfabrics boiler(esq) jumpsuit! I used the #mndurban jumpsuit pattern by @megannielsenpatterns again, still a size 8, this time with a round neck and short sleeves. I adjusted the darts a bit (it helps to have knowledgeable and badass technical designer friends like @katelyn_terese ) and raised the back patch pockets 1/2”. I also made the belt half the width. . . . I bought this beautiful Liberty of London stretch cotton twill (“June Meadows”) from @wearethefabricstore in February 2020 (so, only two years ago, but pre-pandemic, pre-baby, so, 100 years ago) and kept saving it for the perfect project. Enter: the Durban Jumpsuit. It has deep in-seam pockets, enough waist definition to feel like a human in society but not constricting so I can eat croissants and bend down to pick up my kid. I haven’t had much time to sew except for the weekends , but happy to make time for it when I can. It is so incredibly soft and it hardly wrinkles . Two #mndurbanjumpsuit in a week? When I’m on a roll sometimes I just can’t stop! I’ve had this beautiful fabric in my stash for about 2 years trying to decide what to make from it. I bought it to make a dress but I think I’ll get more wear day to day out of a jumpsuit and this pattern is now my absolute fave. I made the Durban Jumpsuit, and I’m so stoked with how it turned out! I’ve already worn it twice this week 🫢 It was such a satisfying pattern to sew, I was able to finish it in little chunks over a couple of weeks, which isn’t my favourite way to sew, but at least with this I felt like I could finish a section each time I sat down at my machine! I made the V neck, tapered leg view, and added the patch pockets from the #closetcoreblanca which extend up to become belt loops, which I think looks rad. I made up the belt to fit, I love the antique brass D rings and snaps together. Pattern: @megannielsenpatterns #mndurban, legs from view A and top from view B Fabric: Cotton twill originally from @blackbirdfabrics, but which I managed to score from @bibbity_bobbity_buttons at Fabricabrac! Mods: took 2cm off the length of the bodice, and a further 4cm out of the back waist seam for my sway back. Also tapered the legs more for a slightly more pegged shape.
