It’s been an extremely rough few weeks, but I finished my #mnhoveacurve (up to 56” bust and 58” hips) today and it made me feel a little better.
My sweet dog Franklin passed away about a week before Christmas, and before that he was having a tough time. I didn’t do any sewing for a couple of weeks because I was spending a lot of time just snuggling with Franklin and trying to keep him comfortable, and this jacket sat with the pieces partially quilted for a long time.
The last couple of days I’ve been at home on my own and done almost nothing but work on it. It feels good to accomplish something. My new job gives us all two weeks off work for the holidays, which I am so grateful for, but it’s been a little hard being at home alone with nothing to do. Working on this slightly challenging jacket has been nice.
I really like this pattern. It’s the first @megannielsenpatterns design I’ve ever made. The instructions were great and it’s overall a pretty simple jacket. Binding the seams is what made it a little more complex for me; it’s just something I haven’t done before, and doing it on a quilted garment made it a little more tedious.
I made a size 22 in view F with no alterations. I used an @artgalleryfabrics set of fat quarters from a collection called Terracotta for the outside, and the inside is a print from @rubystarsociety called Kim’s Knuts that I’m absolutely obsessed with. Also, I used one of the @sewqueer Size Fat labels and it’s just perfect.
It’s a little stiff right now, so I think I might try washing it and see if the batting softens up at all. Otherwise I absolutely love it and it’s just what I was hoping for.
