What a lovely Christmas! We had a really special time with all of our children and our daughter-in-law home and it was just so wonderful to spend a couple of relaxed days together... . . The nicest and best news if I haven't already told you is that I'm going to be a Nanna! Thank you @joedenden and @dr_rose_hilton !!! Behind the Penguin Theme This baby collection needed to be gender neutral in aesthetic, as the gender of the baby wasn’t known. And is part of the reason I went with a penguin theme. I already had the softest black and white jersey to make the dungarees and so it was just a case of using some Penguin appliqués I got off eBay to finish the look. My penultimate make of 2023 was these reversible dungarees for a very happy chappy for his 1st birthday. Pattern: @poppyandjazz / @sewoveritlondon Dandelion Dungarees in size 12-18 months. My second time making these in as many weeks (see a previous post for a teeniest version!). Fabric: both cotton jerseys (95% cotton, 5% elastine, c.200gsm for those who wish to know) from @littlelegsfabrics - I was especially pleased with how they coordinate so well; the aquas and greys are almost perfect matches 😊 We're going to ignore that one of the straps is upside down because I had a momentary lapse in concentration when attaching them 🤫 No label on these as I finished them in a bit of a rush (the poppers scared me, so I dithered!) and forgot a label! #dandeliondungarees #poppyandjazzdandeliondungarees #soidandeliondungarees #littlelegsfabric

🪡 2023: The Projects That Got Away - Part 1 . Over the next few days, I'm planning to share a few of the things I made this year which, for one reason or other, didn't make it to Instagram sooner. Some are gifts I couldn't share at the time; some I haven't managed to photograph 'properly'; some I'm not as happy with as I could be. But they're all things I made, and which reflect the cadence of my 2023. . Starting, then, with the tiniest things I made! . 🪡 A tiny adorable waistcoat for @earlymodernjohn and @fletchington's bairn to wear for their wedding! John supplied the amazing Donegal tweed to match his own suit, @fabworksmillshop provided the lining, and I used the #redrovervest pattern from @puperita. It was a lovely straightforward sew (tho it's important to factor in extra time for stopping after every step to coo over how cute it is), and I even had time to whip up a tiny bow tie as a little extra ❤️ . 🪡 🪡 Two sets of #dandeliondungarees (pattern from @poppyandjazz) - plus matching hats - for the new arrivals of @clairedraws and @sorelegsboy's sweet little Matilda, and @earlymodernjohn and @fletchington's adorable Thady! Photos 2-4: - Pattern: @poppyandjazz Dandelion Dungarees in size 3-6 months, for the teeniest person I currently know 😍 I'm really chuffed with these - fully reversible for two separate outfit looks, no feet so will hopefully last the little owner a bit longer, and a successful first time using poppers! 😊 The instructions were pretty clear until it came to joining the legs together and bagging out - I just could not understand them! @sewoveritlondon have a video tutorial for just this step for £3 which I eventually bought in desperation (there's a free sewalong on YouTube which stops just before this step!). The camera angle in the paid-for tutorial wasn't the best for me personally, unfortunately, but probably because the dungarees are quite small (a bit of zooming may have helped!) and I was trying to do it when I was quite tired, but after a bit more head scratching it did then make sense, so the tutorial did help! I did think at the time there was an easier way to achieve the same result (fold the seam allowances in towards each other inside the legs and just topstitch inside the legs?) but I haven't fully thought that through, so may not work! - Fabric: organic cotton jersey tractor print from @flamingo_fabrics (baby Adeline's Dad works for a tractor company, so had to be done!) and organic cotton jersey floral from @sarahsimplelifeuk - Label: @kylieandthemachine Photos 5-6: - Pattern: just a free ruffle skirt I found on some Googling. Handmade baby gifts… this bundle of cute baby clothes were for my niece’s first birthday @dyerpoppy. I had lots of jersey remnants and wanted to try a couple of new patterns which are hopefully practical for a crawling/toddling baby. For the record…I never made any baby clothes for my own children!! The second baby gift I decided to try my hand at were the @poppyandjazz Dandelion Dungarees in size 0-3 months. The thing I love about making baby clothes are all the fun designs. I’m a floral and plain colour gal so don’t often sew with such cute prints! These dungarees are reversible two so you get 4 styles for the price of two (swipe for a wee peak at the reverse). Nautical vs. Jungle ⠀ In all honesty, I couldn’t decide on the print for this collection of baby gifts. So I decided to combine the two as the colours for both seemed to compliment each other. ⠀ It always seems that expectant friends come in multiples, making the process of creation easier. With this sort of thing, I always go a bit crazy with all the ideas. There is something just so cute about tiny clothes. Bonjour, Je vous montre ça un mois après l'avoir offert, mais voici le trousseau confectionné pour la naissance de ma seconde nièce, Marion 😘 La gigoteuse est issue du livre Coudre pour Bébé. J'ai manqué de longueur de mon tissu rose donc j'ai fait des empiècements gris et blanc. J'aime beaucoup, je trouve que ça souligne bien le tout. J'ai fait des lingettes assorties et un anneau de dentition avec oreilles de lapin 🐰 Le tissu rose lapins vient de chez Mondial Tissus (j'ai le même avec un fond vert de gris en stock 😉). J'ai aussi cousu ma troisième version des Dandelion Dungarees de Sew Over It, avec deux Elm T-shirt assortis. Le tissu kayak était une évidence, mes frères ayant pratiqué de longues années (si vous faites gaffe, vous verrez que les fines rayures ondulent autour de certains kayaks. L'association avec le tissu paquerette à été choisie par Monsieur, et il avait bien raison, j'aime beaucoup le rendu. It's been a long time! For most of last year I was working on my wedding dress and couldn't share (but more on that tomorrow!). Since then we have been renovating our new house and I haven't had a sewing space. ⁠ ⁠ I have finally set up my machines even though the room is still half decorated and full of boxes. I ran this pair up in a couple of hours for his “Rainforest” themed baby sensory and did the reverse with fabric from my stash. In a personal triumph the following week was “Baby Shark”. The second baby gift I decided to try my hand at were the @poppyandjazz Dandelion Dungarees in size 0-3 months. The thing I love about making baby clothes are all the fun designs. I’m a floral and plain colour gal so don’t often sew with such cute prints! These dungarees are reversible two so you get 4 styles for the price of two (swipe for a wee peak at the reverse). These photos were before I added the plastic snap clasps. My top nine makes for 2020! I wasn't sure how much sewing I would get done this year with the majority of my time and attention going to my lovely little man.
