Maar ik weet ook dat die broeken die bij modetrends horen vaak niet 100% goed zitten. En wat een toeval.. Ik kan naaien… Even denken welke fit ik wou voor deze broek - lichtjes oversized, maar wel een broek met een echte sluiting, gulp en zakken. En dat heeft Clover allemaal, als je de toeters en bellen ervan af haalt. De stof van de broek is een Metallic zilver leder look - de binnenkant is 100% katoen, de buitenkant 100% pu metallic. . ENG: You can't miss it, silver pants can be found in a lot of clothing brands. And oh, how susceptible I am to fashion trends :-). But I also know that those pants that come with fashion trends don't always have the correct fit. And what a coincidence.... I can sew... Just thinking what fit I wanted for these pants - slightly oversized, but pants with a real closure, fly and pockets. And Clover has all that, if you take away the bells and whistles. Dus een cargo broek zonder de cargo… ik maakte hem in 1 maatje groter omdat ik een comfy fit wou. Uiteindelijk bleek dat 1 maatje groter een beetje uit mijn comfort zone, want na jaren met broeken die tot aan mijn taille komen, heb ik nu weer een broek die zakt tot op mijn heupen, ik voel me weer 16 :-) . ENG: This is Clover, Fibre Mood's cargo pants from edition 19, but without all the extra pockets. So cargo pants without the cargo...I made them in 1 size up because I wanted a comfy fit. In the end, that 1 size bigger turned out to be a bit out of my comfort zone, because after years with pants that come down to my waist, I now have pants that sink to my hips again, I feel 16 again :-) . I made the Clover trousers by Colette . I took a bit of tweaking and fitting to get a good fit . Still not quite right but it’s the best fit I’ve managed so far on trousers . I think #fibremood must have been responding to my Open Letter to Constance when they made the #clovertrousers pattern. (See my #fibremoodconstance dungarees post a little way back to read my letter). This pattern was a real pleasure to sew with not a single frustration along the way. My daughter has wanted cargo pants for a very long time #fibremoodclover was everything we had been looking for. I made the smallest size and they fit her beautifully with no alterations apart from adding 25cm to the length #sewtall . They are high waisted so I didn’t need to increase the rise like I normally would do. Where they might sit high for others, they sit perfectly at the waist for Darcy. They also have darts at the back 👌 which I’m pleased about because that’s another alteration I would usually have to make myself. And these pants have top stitching 🖤🖤🖤 I was in my #flowstate making these 🥰( see previous post) #sewingflowstate #newhashtag 😄 I also changed the side pocket to a pocket without capacity, to reduce the bulk. Added a fancy freestyled topstitch design to the back pockets and a D-ring to the front right belt loop, secured down with a few stitches. Which means the belt loop is now too small for the intended belt 😩🤦🏾‍♀️. Please try not to notice in the modelled pictures which I’ll show tomorrow 🙈. Next time I’ll remember to make the belt loop longer 🤦🏾‍♀️. I finally managed some sewing time after a little break and made a breezy Omilie top and some matching trousers for bean - both very rumpled after a day of baby wearing! I made a size 8 in the top and a 3-6 months in the trousers using a really light cotton from Merchant and Mills - perfect for this sweaty weather! JULIA, THE PATTERN ADJUSTMENTS For English: scroll down NL: Redelijk wat aanpassingen om deze versie te bekomen op basis van de Julia kimono: ik startte met 2 maten boven mijn gewoonlijke maat, verbreedde en verkortte de mouwen, verkortte voor- en rugpand, voegde de zakken van de #fibremoodlucy toe. Het beleg knipte ik van voor-en rugpand, maar voegde het dan opnieuw toe om boord te creëren. Oh ja, en ik voerde hem volledig :-) De boorden van de mouwen werkte ik af met een zwarte biais. Redelijk wat werk, maar dan vooral in het uitdenken van de aanpassingen. En dat heb ik al voor jullie gedaan :-) . ENG: Fair amount of adjustments to obtain this version based on the Julia kimono: I started with 2 sizes above my usual size, widened and shortened the sleeves, shortened front and back panel, added the pockets from the #fibremoodlucy. The trim I cut from front and back panel, but then added it again to create hem. Oh yeah, and I lined it completely :-) I finished the cuffs of the sleeves with a black bias. FOR THE LOVE OF STEPPER For English: scroll down NL: Ik ben een enorme fan van stepper (of quilted, of gematelasseerd, hoe je het maar wil noemen). Voelt alsof je een dekentje rondom je slaat, en er is toch niets heerlijker dan mooi gekleed zijn én het gevoel hebben alsof je gewikkeld bent in een dekentje. :-) Deze stepper vond ik bij @framalo.stofjesensco en vind ik echt top van kwaliteit: perfecte grootte van ui-patroon, niet te dik, niet te dun, en mooi matte katoen. . ENG: I'm a huge fan of stepper (or quilted, or matelassé, whatever you want to call it). Feels like wrapping a blanket around you, and after all, there's nothing more wonderful than being nicely dressed AND feeling like you're wrapped in a blanket. :-) I found this stepper at @framalo.stofjesensco and think it's really top quality: perfect size of onion pattern, not too thick, not too thin, and nice matte cotton. . I made shorts! And they turned out great! It took me a while (I began project shorts in May) because life got in the way and I lost my sew-jo for a bit, but I forced myself to finish the toile I’d made, and adjust the pattern yet again for various fit tweaks blah blah blah, then managed to cut and sew these up really quite speedily (for me, I am a slow sewer and happily so). These are a wearable toile because although they are good, I’ve got a bit of a bump in the seam of the waistband to smooth out on my pattern pieces for the next version, and I may make the thighs verrrry slightly roomier. I’d also like to add a tiny smidge of height to the back as the front is now higher and it hits at a comfier point. I’m glad I forced myself to sew these and I’m enjoying wearing them today. One of the main things that gave me the push to finish them was knowing the weather was going to get hot and I’ve not got many hot weather options that fit! The pattern is @seamwork clover trousers, because I already had it and all this fit work is in preparation for several pairs of much needed cigarette trousers for summertime. I began from my measurements and graded between sizes but still needed to then take a good couple of inches off each side seam. Then I did a full tummy adjustment which was very successful. I have a very flat bum but made no adjustments there so if you are more 🍑 you may need to add a bit of room in the back pieces if you make this pattern. Also I have given up trying to take “good” finished garment photos, it just takes too long. A quick self timer pic while I sneakily have five minutes peace and an ice cream in the garden will do! I haven’t made much this year due to lack of time but I’m really pleased with the things I have made so I think slowing down and considering my makes has helped me make things more suited to me and my wardrobe.
