A bank holiday weekend means time to sew and another dress finish. This is the Meredith Dress pattern by @sewoveritlondon . I’ve been meaning to make this for quite a while and now wonder why it took me so long to get to it. This was a nice easy make, great instructions as always, and I flew through it. It’s made with a large remnant I found in @misanretail Goldhawk Road a couple of years ago which has lovely drape but is also easy to work with. I find rtw wrap dresses can be a bit hit and miss on me but am really happy with how this sits, no gape along the neckline and the wrap front sits perfectly. Happy Monday! I hope you've had a lovely weekend! Today I wanted to share my wonderful purchases from the @SewOverItLondon Sample Sale! I was really fortune to be able to pick out three lovely pieces that I've always dreamed of having in my wardrobe! 💜 Firstly, is a Meredith Dress made in this amazing viscose jersey Peacock Delight. I loved how this looked on Lisa on the photoshoot and hoped it would suit me. After I purchased it I was worried it wouldn't but I love it 😍 the fabric is so soft and has a wonderful drape! (Image 1 & 2) 💜 Secondly, is another Meredith Dress made in a viscose jersey swan print. I purchased some of this fabric to make myself a Meredith Dress and it was a total disaster! I found the fabric quite difficult to work with and was so disappointed I couldn't have a version. When I saw this one I felt like it was a second chance! This version is slightly shorter on me, but I love how it looks with black tights! (Image 3 & 4) 💜 Finally, this amazing Phoebe Dress. I've loved this dress for so long and I couldn't believe it was part of the Sample Sale! The sample is a size 10 and I was worried it wouldn't fit as I usually wear a 12 in the hips. The pattern does have negative ease and I was so happy to find it fitted me well! (Image 5 & 6) So happy with these purchases and having them in my wardrobe! #MeMadeMay2022 day 1 I made this #SOIMeredithDress a while back, but haven’t shown it on the grid yet. I travel between UK sizes 12 and 16, so with wrapdresses I usually make a UK size 14. I’m edging up to a UK18, but this still seems to be working. I’ve worn this one a lot since making it! My sister-in-law @amhoukes gave this fabric to me for my birthday. It’s the ponte version of the Van Gogh fabric I used a few years ago for my Kielo (which will make an appearance this month too). Hello my dudes! I made something for me that can be shared on here! I didn’t make sewing plans for this year. As you all know, the wardrobe runneth over and a lot of my sewing will be for others this year. I bought a lot of fabrics for shirts for Wybe at the end of 2022 and will be sewing up those for #LastSewistStanding this year. I haven’t had a lot of energy to sew since coming down with flu at the start of the year. This is the newest fabric that ended up in my stash through the subscription box of @sewhayleyjane and I quickly decided that it could be a wrap top as I needed more tops. I used the @sewoveritlondon #soimeredithdress as a base, cut it off at hip length and added some hight to the bodice. It’s a size 16, pattern goes up to a B57” and H60”. Today I wore my new #LanderPants with my older #SOIMeredithDress top. It’s a bit creased from sitting down all day. I’ve been on a journey with pants and had to overcome fitting issues due to my hip-waist ratio. These Landers therefor are made for the October theme of the #MAGAMSewalong ‘Overcome’. I chose a size 14 based on my hip measurement and added extra darts in the back of the waist after fitting it as I went along. This way my belly has the room it needs, but there’s no gape at the back. @carmen.cose @hportemanteau @sewing_in_spain

Yay it's reveal day for #sewrecreatethelook by @jenlegg_teescreatives and @sosewdressmaking and I've made it to the end of the challenge. The Inspiration: A red faux wrap polka dot dress I bought from @oasisfashion a few years ago and loved because it always made me feel confident and a little bit glamourous. The Toile: I couldn't find an exact pattern so I used the bodice from the #soimeredithdress by @sewoverit and #followmewrapskirt skirt from @pattern_emporium and some Elastane fabric I picked up in a charity shop. The Reveal: A version in black glitter stretch fabric again bought from a charity shop with one adjustment at the waist to fit the faux wrap better. Sew Over It is looking for new #soipatterninsiders and specifically BIPOC and disabled makers to create a better representation of our maker community (there’s a link in my bio and their bio to the sign up, deadline tomorrow). Pattern insiders make the newest @sewoveritlondon pattern so that when the pattern is released you can see it made up on a variety of people and get a better idea of how the pattern might fit you. I’ve been a pattern insider for over a year now and it has been a real pleasure to do. I signed up to get some more spontaneity and excitement in my sewing. You don’t need to make every pattern (though you can). When I’m busy or tired I opt out and when I do have the two weeks time and energy to make something I opt in. The team now offers to print your pattern for you or have a local to you printer print it for you if printing would be an issue for you. Sizing goes from UK 8 to UK30. There’s a facebook group in which we can discuss everything to do with the patterns which is a very nice and supportive group. The team itself is very approachable and filled with kind and attentive people. I so far have ended up with three patterns that are amongst my favourite patterns ever (the #soimeredithdress #soiloisdress and #soikittydress pictured here), but I also got to explore some patterns I might not have tried otherwise and got me out of my rut and comfort zone.
