Finished my wearable toile for my @sewoveritlondon #farrahjumpsuit and I like it but think I overdid it on adding depth to the front rise! Graded between a 12 for the bodice and a 14 plus a bit at the side legs for the bottom, plus the extra height in the rise that backfired a bit. I like the construction of the waist and placket quite a bit so going to keep fudging before I cut into my precious jumbo cord. Me Made May Day 6: bank holiday Monday! What are you all up to? I’ve got some @lovely_._lydia work to do this morning - sew a tote bag and cushion for some orders.. then I really really really want to focus on my pom Pom dress this afternoon. I kept thinking I was going to get time this week and it never happened. . So I’m in my super comfy Sew Over It “Farrah” jumpsuit today. I made this as a toile and have not yet got round to making the “real garment” .. fabric is from a duvet cover- hence why it’s so so comfy! I regret though that I didn’t overlock the fabric pieces however as after quite a bit of wear it is fraying in places. I have some pink needle cord intended for the “real thing” but that will be an autumn project methinks . I finished my first out of my make 9 2023- and I'm in love! Up until the last minute I was really afraid this is going to turn out to be the opposite of Secret Pyjamas - as in "clothes that look like you didn't feel like getting dressed for taking Daisy out early in the morning"- but I feel like the buttons and styling really make the difference. Fabric: midweight cotton twill from @cadena_fabrics_prints . Managed to squeeze the whole thing (minus one chest pocket) out of 2 meters. Pattern: @sewoveritlondon #soifarrahjumpsuit . The instructions were well written and easy to follow. Mods: I began with the smallest size and shortened the top by 3 cm, took in side seams 1.5 cm. The pants were shortened by 9.5 cm and then I took 1 cm off the rise and and took side seam in by 2 cm. Next time will shorten the rise a bit more. The final fit is a bit roomier than the intended fit, but definitely very comfy! It's dupe- o'clock! My colour palette has been a bit on the darker side recently, so time for a pop of something brighter I think! I've been eyeing this RTW Jumpsuit for a while which had a wrap function that seemed to come entirely from the front of the garment, allowing there to be side seam pockets. As you may well know, I love a garment which has a wrap feature, but often at the expense of pockets as the side seams most often get pulled into the wrap. I spent the last month on and off trying to draft my own version, with a LOT of trial and error and haphazard geometry. Essentially you make a big dart on the front bodice and front trouser respectively, which don't get closed up as that becomes the wrap. When drafting i like working from an existing pattern as drafting from scratch still freaks me out a bit. I took the bodice from the #soifarrahjumpsuit, lowering the neckline and omitting the collar. Then trousers are from the #trlazyjumpsuit as I love their relaxed oversized shape. I then added darts to the back bodice and back legs to give some shaping. Overall I'm pretty darn pleased at this dupe attempt- if you know the RTW jumpsuit I'm talking about, let me know what you think! 😜 Fabric is a cotton jacquard gauze from @newcrafthouse In the most luscious 'pumpkin' colour. I don't sew with gauze often so I definitely could do with some tips to manage the warping, although this was a sturdier gauze than most. This is a night before picture. All ready for my friends birthday party. I no longer look or feel like that! 😂 #hungover! I wore my new @sewoveritlondon Farah Jumpsuit. My second go at this quite detailed make. My first was too long in the bodice, so I just shortened the top front and back by about an 1.5 inches. I also shortened the legs. I have added very satisfying rose gold snaps that work really well, and I already had them from another project, win win! Who needs a boiler fixing? I really enjoyed making this one- I made it in the dead of winter and it certainly kept me warm. Although it's not really the season for it I still find reasons to crack it out. It's the #soifarrahjumpsuit by @sewoveritlondon made in aubergine coloured corduroy with a slight bit of stretch- from @minervadotcom. #wearitonwednesday STRIPES / JAILHOUSE ROCK @heysewgeorgie ‘s challenge this week was stripes, but based on jailhouse rock, this is when I realise I have 1 striped top, and it’s in the wash!! I used to have more but after a depressing conversation with my hairdresser (her super cool daughter had commented on me only ever wearing stripes 🙈) all but my favourite went off to oxfam. My action lemon suit is finished! This is the @sewoveritlondon Farrah Jumpsuit and of course I had to make it in the most outlandish print 🍋🍋🍋It was the most involved project I’ve made in a while because there are many parts to this jumpsuit, but I’m so glad I took the time because I absolutely love it, especially the many pockets 😍 This amazing cotton (also from Sew Over It) has a bit of stretch so it’s super comfortable and perfect to jump/squat/kick in. Pattern: Farrah Jumpsuit from @sewoveritlondon Fabric: Poly viscose twill remnant from @theremnantwarehouse from my stash Jumpsuits are my ghost outfit, if you were to make a cartoon character of me it would be running around in overalls. I have heavy overalls to wear with jumpers for winter and light floaty jumpsuits and playsuits for summer but my wardrobe was missing an autumn/spring jumpsuit. I was looking for something with short sleeves but also slightly oversized for airflow and so it doesn't get sweaty from being closer to my underarms. The #soifarrahjumpsuit fit the brief perfectly. Based on my measurements I made a size 16 in both the top and bottom but ended up taking some fabric out of the underarm/body in the top section; if I made this again I would just grade to a size 14. I excluded the sleeves (obviously) but extended the drop shoulder on the top pieces about 3cm to give extra room for the hem and to roll them up. Also I hated the pockets drafted for the pattern, they're little cargo pockets with flaps that look twee or like an afterthought imo so I replaced them with bid rectangular ones seamed on the outside. I have made this so it has fully enclosed seams inside, the bodice is all flat felled and I used contrast bias binding in the legs cause that's my jam. This was relatively straightforward to make with the main tricky part being attaching the button placket in the front at the bottom, mine is neat enough for me but it took some serious finneagling to get it right. #thanksimadeit #australiasews #sydneysews #australiangothic #deadstockfabric

First time working with denim - this was tough! I think I got through a few machine needles making this, and it was heavy to sew! Loved how it came out though - my very own Rosie the Riveter jumpsuit! Interestingly, I think this is the me-made outfit that’s got me more compliments than any other.
