Final week of MeMadeMay and it features a lot of new makes. First up is this fresh off the machine @sewoveritlondon Georgie dress hacked to be a maxi length. It’s made in this fabulous deadstock Farm Rio fabric I got from @rainbowfabrickilburn. Using one of their brand ambassadors codes including postage this cost less than £25 which is a far cry from the £250 you’d spend on one from their shop. The fabric is so soft and silky, it feels so lovely to wear but also day appropriate. This is also my entry to #sewskinsummer25 hosted by @the_sewing_gardener This is my sort of summer dress, loose and cool but pretty covered. Sun screen is good but it doesn’t replace clothing for surety! On 25th January one of my best friends @jessicahogarth married her best friend 😍 I was one of the bridesmaids and got to make my own dress!! As usual I left it to the last minute and the fabric that I wanted was no longer available so it didn’t quite turn out how I wanted but it still worked and I finished it just in time. I took the #soigeorgiedress pattern and extended it right down to the floor so needed 4 metres of fabric. Made this dress using the Sew Over It Georgie pattern with a fun space-print cotton jersey I found in the Spotlight clearance shelf 🚀🌸 Lined the bodice with viscose jersey for extra comfort — and I’m loving how cheerful and comfy it turned out! Also I love that the neckline is secured by elastic inside the lining. Feels more secure than the usual wrap cutting🩷 The skirt is the gathered version. Me Made May days 12 and 13: two wrap dresses! Yesterday was a Georgie dress from Sew Over It (OK faux wrap) and today's was a By Hand London Hannah dress. I've struggled with the fit of the bodice of the Hannah... It doesn't gape, as long as I don't slouch too much, and I am very conscious of it. I modified it to have wider ties and for them to wrap around the body. Straight skirt rather than gathered at waist. This @sewoveritlondon #soigeorgiedress dress is going to be a very useful and well needed addition to my autumn wardrobe 🍂 I recently noticed that I was lacking cooler weather clothes and decided I needed a few new dresses. I found this lovely kit on the @destash4palestine insta account and couldn’t resist= a lovely winter dress plus a charity donation to a very worthy cause! if you’re not already following the account, go and take a look! There are some real gems on there. I made a size 8 and added an inch to the bodice length. I could probably do with shortening the skirt length a bit but I’ll keep it this length for now. "Secret pajamas" for our "underground dress up" pajama day. The teachers are doing secret dress up days this week and the kids get to guess what the theme is. I'm clearly not wearing pajamas but my students know I don't wear them out of the house. 🌿 Georgie 🌿 My first finished make of 2025 is the @sewoveritlondon Georgie! I love the finished look of this dress - the 3/4 circle skirt sits so beautifully, and the faux wrap bodice is fab for breastfeeding Baby A. I used clear elastic for the first time, to stabilise the neckline, and I really struggled to sew it with my sewing machine. It was definitely the messiest sewing I’ve done for a long time! Thank goodness it’s tucked away and no one can see it 😂 It seemed to go much better using my overlocker for the waist though. The fabric is all remnants from @northernmonkeymakes, although I ordered them a long time ago. It’s always satisfying to finally finish a make that’s been sitting in your head for a long time! Labels are @sewanonymousofficial and @little.rosy.cheeks that I received for Christmas from my lovely husband. I can see this dress being worn a lot over winter and spring, especially as I am back to work in a few weeks.
