👔😷👗 Matchy Matchy! 👗 😷 👔 Over the last month I’ve slowly been working on a new dress for a wedding we’ve been invited to later this week. It’s another Eve dress in a crepe fabric. I have also made a matching mask and a tie for my partner. The mask was simple and I used a white cotton for the extra layer. The tie was a little more tricky as I had to interface the fabric as it had far too much drape to be stable enough for the pattern. I cut the pattern and interfacing but found that the fabric had distorted and was not the right shape once I got to interfacing. Thankfully I had a lot of fabric left over so I ironed the interfacing onto the fabric and then cut the tie out which worked really well. My slip stitching is terrible but I’m pretty sure no one but me and my partner will be looking at the back of the tie. It’s been fun to make all the matching items and hope it’s not too over the top. Me made May (11) this is Sew over it Eve dress that I made about 5/6 years ago. It was really too tight on the arms when I first made it so I really didn’t wear it at all. Maybe once or twice. It was also the first time that I worked with rayon fabric and before I had a coverstitch so I can tell the quality of my sewing is not as good back then when I look at the hems. Luckily I hadn’t pre washed the fabric and now that I have washed it, it shrank and it fits me well. Although I always felt that the bodice and sleeve attachment does not fit great on this pattern proportionally regardless of the size that I am. I can’t remember the size that I actually made this in. I have recently made another eve dress to retry the design and have found the same with the bodice so have to make a few adjustments to that one. #memademay #memademay2025 #sewoverit #soievedress #evedress

I've been playing with the #soievedress. I'd class both of these as wearable toiles but the fit isn't right for either of them. I realised too late that the armscye was too low for the straight sleeves to be comfortable. I ended up putting an underarm gusset in the green one, but not very well. In retrospect I've not really had real wrap dresses before and I don't really feel secure enough in either to wear at work. Maybe wrap dresses are just not for me. I am going to wear them for WFH maybe and have a think about whether this pattern is for me and whether I want to make another one that fits better. I'm sure most people think of Son de Flor dresses as the button front, peter pan collar style, but my one and only SDF dress is a wrap! I'd dearly love another but I simply cannot afford it at the moment. So - I make my own! As this was gifted fabric and I used the #SOIEveDress for the hundredth time, I didn't spend anything on this dress. But if you were to recreate it you might spend about $60-75 (depending on fabric choice). SDF is well worth the $250 price tag - I'll never debate that point. But you can also have heirloom quality work on a $60 garment if you do the work yourself. Anybody who loves clothes really should learn to sew! Brilliant evening playing flute last week at the Autumn Concert with the @westmidlandsconcertband! After countless hours, seven toiles, and one dress almost getting lost in the mail, I was over the moon to outfit my gorgeous bridesmaids in handmade, one of a kind, made to measure dresses! Combining the #soievedress and #sicilyslipdress patterns with deadstock viscose from @blackbirdfabrics was the perfect match for my September wedding. I bought SO MUCH extra fabric and also sewed my handsome groom's tie (@peekaboopatternshop), a self-drafted bowtie for my dad, and pocket squares with hand-rolled hems for the groomsmen. This is my second attempt at #soievedress Well, the first is like 8 years ago 😬 This time, I really stretched the bodice. It's strecthed very far away, and It is actually not really wearable, but still I am very grateful for every dress I made so I need to record it anyway. This is really easy to make especially with the flowy arm finish. The first thing to do for Eve Dress is to stabilize the front bodice line especially when the fabric is very weak. Next time, I want to try it with linen rayon fabric, flowy but sturdy structure.

✨Porto / Douro Capsule Wardrobe Day 2✨ an old old favourite for today - breezy and pretty but also light and comfortable for a day of cellar touring and port tasting at @ramospintowines followed by a boat trip, the cable car and walking Porto’s bridges and hills .. . New dress! It's my first time making the #soievedress by @sewoveritlondon in this beautifully soft fabric from @dazzle________houseoffabrics29 which I bought on my birthday trip to London. I made up the dress without any adjustments (apart from grading between sizes) but I think I actually need to go down a size and potentially also shorten the bodice. It's a bit loose round the top and I have to keep checking I'm not flashing my bra 🤣. I might even try and alter this one slightly to take it in a bit. Otherwise, though, I love it. Love how much of an overlap you get so the skirt stays put! #sewover50

Elle est très pratique au vu des températures fraîches mais je la trouve trop longue. J'aimerais bien me faire une veste qui s'arrête à ma taille car je trouve que les vestes courtes rendent mieux avec des robes. My final make! I actually made this during my third trimester, I had it on my to do list and I was determined to make it.... . That being said, really hurt my back trying to cut this out so I don't recommend third trimester sewing 😂 . I also bought this and read the instructions during my first trimester but when I tried to cut out the pattern I felt too ill so I put the whole thing aside. I assumed this pattern needed a knit base and I held that assumption for MONTHS. I finally get to the project and then realised that I had bought the wrong fabric! 🤦‍♂️ . These are some of my favourite fancy garments I’ve ever made I’ve been thinking a lot about what I need in my wardrobe recently. If I don’t have a fancy jumpsuit and dress life anymore, do I need more fancy outfits? Really all I need to add to my wardrobe is a good load of comfy jersey joggers, but they are boring to make and I like fancy clothes so... It’s a match! On Thursday we celebrated one of my oldest friends getting married! It was such a lovely day. I wore my new Eve dress and made a matching mask and a matching tie for my partner. He has given me some feedback so I can amend the pattern to suit his preferences. Another fabulous make using @sewoveritlondon #soiheididress pattern from their own magazine published a few years ago. I did a little hack using the #soievedress sleeves making this a very femine dress. I will be making it again in a heavier fabric and with long sleeves, taking a little fabric from the bust and hips. Ava has matching dresses from the remnants. 2 x SOI Aida maxi versions for daughter #1, 16 year old Tahlia. Made up in viscose from @rach_stitched_up__destash and @lamazifabrics Swapped the Aida sleeves for the Eve dress sleeves.
