Wearing my #soiblossomtop today. Made out of a lovely burgundy red viscose from @sewisfaction which sewed up very nicely. I just love this pattern - the neckline is flattering and at 38 weeks pregnant it's so nice to have something nice and floaty on. @sewoveritlondon #soishowoff #maternitysewing

My final make! I actually made this during my third trimester, I had it on my to do list and I was determined to make it.... . That being said, really hurt my back trying to cut this out so I don't recommend third trimester sewing 😂 . I also bought this and read the instructions during my first trimester but when I tried to cut out the pattern I felt too ill so I put the whole thing aside. I assumed this pattern needed a knit base and I held that assumption for MONTHS. I finally get to the project and then realised that I had bought the wrong fabric! 🤦‍♂️ . Edit: Forgot to mention the sleeve change up here... I opted for the flutter sleeve from #soievedress which is one of my favourite sleeve options for HK weather! . I really wasn’t sure about this pattern, and then decided I would go for it, then with the sale, almost went a bought the Alexander shirt dress, then changed my mind again! So happy with how it fits (went down a size because I thought it would be massive otherwise, yet hoping that by 4 months time I won’t be ridiculously huge. But then again this #soiblossomtop dress will be great for post birth and my tummy comes down again and you don’t want to show body progress reports! Fabric is rayon. Fit is loose and flowing, heaps of room for nursing. Alterations include keeping the original hem length (I had lengthened it by 10cm, but then decided it looked better shorter, although in hindsight I think I will lengthen the back hem by 5cm in case of embarrassing bending-over-here-are-my-undies moments, which generally only happen on a windy day, but still), and finally shortening the elastic under the bust (but that’s a personal fit adjustment, anyway!) I actually want to make another one now. I’m sure I’ll get heaps of wear out of this lovely thing! Whoops-a-daisy—I lopped an “extra”few inches off the side of my skirt to make it fit the bodice, only to realize once it was all assembled that the pleats are in the wrong spots. 🔪🔪🔪As there is no fixing this, I am barreling forward valiantly, with the loose concept of a cardigan buttoned over the top as a viable solution. 👌#riflepapercofabric #soiblossomtop
