Get Halloween ready with 2 SOI pattern hacks! Refer to pattern for full @poppyandjazz Elm T-shirt instructions and watch our YouTube Sewalong: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=2gyhJQMqOVg Adding 🦇 wings: 1. Before closing the side seam and sleeve seam lay your t-shirt on some paper. Draw the wing shape following the side and sleeve seam and starting 4cm from sleeve edge and 5cm bodice edge draw 3 wing points 2. Add seam allowance all around the wing pattern piece (1cm for Elm T-shirt) 3. Cut 2 pairs of wings 4. Sew each pair of wings right sides together along the 3 points using a standard straight stitch. Leave straight edges open 5. Trim seam allowances and turn right way around using a pencil to get points looking sharp. Press 6. Topstitch from each wing point to armpit using a straight stitch (stitch length: 4). You can do this in a decorative contrast thread or in black if you don’t want the stitches to show. 7. With the t-shirt right sides together sandwich each wing along the side seam and sleeve seam. Sew all layers together with a zigzag stitch. Trim the SA. Press 8. I made jeans!!! And haven’t stopped wearing them since. These are the mia jeans from @sewoveritlondon first ebook - city break. They’re a skinny jean with patch pockets at the back and a fly front, but no front pockets or yoke at the back. So a really good entry level jean. I made the size 12 and the fit was perfect around my hips and bum. I took then in 2 cms on each side at the waist. When I make them again I’ll take them in at the back instead, but I’d already top stitched that seem down. I was very worried about the fly zip but Lisa has an excellent tutorial on YouTube for it. One of the challenges I found was getting the perfect denim with the correct amount of stretch. I eventually found it at @sewessentialuk for £9 pm. These take under 1.5mtrs in my size. If you fancy a new pair of jeans but are nervous about sewing them start here! So much easier than I thought! This is another of my #makenine2020 ticked off my list! I’m wearing them at the garden centre yesterday with my Sew Over It Lucia top. I love this. I always get chilly arms so I rarely get tops that I can’t wear a cardigan with so that ruled out tops with these flounces! Until now. This is such an easy make, comes together in a couple of hours including cutting time. I made a size 10 but an 8 probably would have been better. Fresh flowers...my absolute favorite...is it too much to ask to have fresh flowers in your hair?? I mean, thats normal right? This is the amazing outdoor space my hubby built for us in the backyard and I absolutely love it! My top nine for 2021. Some well worn items here as well as a few surprises. My @megannielsenpatterns #mndarlingranges dress was top. Both of my @fridaypatterncompany #wildergowntop made the list. My most complimented dress #m8085 has been worn a lot. My @tessutifabrics #londoncoat got heaps of wear in winter and helped me stand out in the sea of black. I finally finished the @sewaholic blouse after it took me 2.5 years to do the button holes and it has been a welcome addition to my work wardrobe. My recent @patternemporium_kate Meet You There dress has already been worn a number of times, including Christmas day. I have already made a top version and have another dress planned. The #s8014 was given away as it was a toilet that didn't fit and had terrible pattern placement. The #soiluciatop was made a number of years ago and reposted as part of a competition. Thank you to everyone who follows me, likes my terribly photographed makes and provides advice, spot and nice comments. It is appreciated.

May 2021. Garments 6 and 7 of the year. Thought I'd make something a bit easier so I returned to the @sewoveritlondon Lucy pattern and made a top and a dress. It's a really straight forward sew though still haven't quite nailed the neckline. I probably need to shorten the neck piece slightly. Very comfortable to wear. The top is smart enough for work and, if the weather is nice, I think I will be wearing the dress a lot over the summer. Debating whether to make the maxi version too! I made size 12, lengthened bodice on both by 1". I added pockets to the dress too. Yeah the sun has shown up again. I made this @sewoveritlondon Lucia top but turned it into a dress, and then the weather changed, so postponed the photos. I changed the long sleeves into short ones so that you couldn't see them below the ruffle, also added pockets to break up the busy pattern, and I like to have somewhere to hide a tissue. Made a matching headband too. Love this style, especially in a jersey, just right for summer days. Back to my favorite instant-gratification sew, the #soiluciatop ... but this time with a twist! I’m experimenting with pattern grading to make this top for a family member. I offered to make it for her... then noticed that the sizing didn’t go high enough to match her measurements 🤦🏻‍♀️. Too late to take back the offer, so pattern grading it is!😂 Watched a quick tutorial from @nickverreos , grabbed the only paper in my house, and bam! Graded pattern to size 28 and down to 26 in the bust. I absolutely fell in love with this fabric when I saw it on @sewsewsewuk. I didn’t know if the colours would suit me but it was screaming to be a dress. I did the next best thing and made a co-ord. this is the @truebias Ogden cami and the @sewoveritlondon Lizzie skirt. I’ve made both these patterns before and really recommend them - they’re favourites of mine. I think they work perfectly together as a faux dress AND I get other outfits too! I wore my new #soiluciatop last night, fresh from the sewing room to see songs from Gorillaz and Blur played by @candlelight.concerts My daughter and I absolutely loved it and the music was mesmerising. It was such a unique experience. If you get a chance, I highly recommend seeing one of their concerts! The frill and off the shoulder cut off this top made me feel that little bit special. Nights out are a big treat for us.
