Well on the last day of 2022 it seems only right to do a little update on my #makenine plans for this year. I’ve managed to make 4 out of the nine which I suppose isn’t too bad! Three were successful makes and one is my proudest to date, the #dawnjeans from @megannielsenpatterns I feel it’s only fair to be honest and one is a sewing fail which breaks my heart slightly as I made this alongside my lovely friend Alex. We both made the #soinancydress from Sew Over It but sadly I made mine too short, a problem I don’t usually have being just over 5ft! I’ll try and make it into a top so it’s not a complete fail. Two I have cut out and can’t wait to make, the #sewingindigo and #mntania . They will become 2023 makes I hope. And lastly the three makes I haven’t cut out but I’m hoping they will get made at some point. I can’t leave the gorgeous Liberty French Terry sitting in my stash much longer, it feels like a crime! 2022 has been a great year for my sewing and I have been so lucky to start up my YouTube channel and to make some lovely sewing friends. Så var den klar, min Nancy Dress från #sewoverit i viskos från #stoffochstil och det var ett superbra val till den här modellen 👌 Jag valde stl 16 utifrån mitt bystmått eftersom den har en så lös passform i övrigt och jag behövde inte ändra något. Såå lättsydd och jätteskön att ha på sig! Kan varmt rekommendera mönstret OCH Stoff & Stils vävda viskostyger. first finished garment of 2024!! 🎉 I needed a winter party dress that could stand up to midwestern January weather (last year C’s work holiday party featured an ice storm, this year it was -14F). Enter the @sewoveritlondon #nancydress in this beautiful charcoal gray velour from @moodfabrics. I am so tempted to buy 5 more yards of this to make the dreamiest fantasy cape — maybe later! I paired this with some fleece-lined tights and boots, bundled up with my parka, and stayed toasty warm and so so comfy. Plenty of swish factor also means plenty of room for dessert 🙌🏼 I did reduce the amount of flare on the skirt pieces, maybe an inch or so from each seam. I saw this hack recommended by a few other makers and I’m very happy with how it turned out! The front is also 3 pieces, and a little tricky to sew, but very doable. I have sewn with knits for majority of my sewing life, but lately I just love making woven garments. So much more comfortable for the Texas summer. Unfortunately my fabric stash is 95% knit, and I am running out of wovens already. In December I made a @sewoveritlondon Nancy dress, I kept forgetting to take a snap of it as I've worn it loads! It's floaty, swishy and very girly 💕 I've been wearing it with a super snuggly pink cardi for extra warmth. Managed to take a few photos of my Violet knit jacket before work today 📸. I was going to model it with my Ginger jeans and a simple knit top but I was already wearing my Nancy dress and it looks pretty cute with it... So I might do another set of photos when I get the chance. We are not allowed to wear jeans at work which is why I hardly wear them on the weekdays. . . So what do you think? I love it! I think it works really well with my casual wardrobe and my work wardrobe. I can't wait to use my other scrap knit fabrics for another version. . . The construction of this jacket can be a bit strange to begin with but all the pieces goes together easily if you follow the notch on the pattern. . . . . The facing and back panels are different to the rest of the jacket. . . #soinancydress by @sewoveritlondon hacked with the #bhlhannah Bishop sleeves, shirred into cuffs. Adjusted for my narrow shoulders and shortened by an amount I forgot to note 😒 Fabric: Viscose from the Birmingham Rag Market, bought during #sewbrum2019 This print isn't quite me and the fabric has been sitting in my stash for a year, failing to inspire. It was perfect though for a wearable toile of a style I was unsure would suit me. While I like the look on other people I generally don't love loose smock/tent/baby doll style dresses on myself. But I wanted to get in on the action and make a dress that was cute and comfy and very #lockdown2.0 friendly The great design features of this pattern really make this silhouette work for me - I think it deserves more love, so check out the Nancy dress if you like the look but it hasn't been on your radar. @fionaparker17 has a great blog post on her Nancy dress (from 2017) which explains better than I can why this design works so well. I'm looking forward to making another version in a fabric I really like! It's swishy and easy and fun to wear (and make). No zip - it calls for a hook and eye for the back opening but I dislike them; I used the excess of the neckline bias facing to make ties, because my hair gets caught on buttons #curlyhairproblems . A new dress for day 2 of #memademay2020 (also my birthday!) This is a #soinancydress in three different kinds of spotty fabric, including sheer on the back. I like it. The sleeves are too narrow for my arms so I changed to flared ones using the instructions in the @tillybuttons stretch book. This just needs hemming now and I think I’ll make it a little bit shorter.
