This pattern is a total @sewoveritlondon pattern mash up - I combined the Lea dress bodice (with pleats rather than darts), Poppy playsuit sleeves and Ultimate Culottes from the waist down, narrowing the legs (a bit too much over my thighs to be able to sit down comfortably!) I’ve had this red fabric for a few years, originally intended to be another Lea dress, but I finally decided on a jumpsuit. An all red jumpsuit seemed like a bold choice but I think it has a wow factor. This is the second jumpsuit I've made, and I love it. It's the poppy jumpsuit from @sewoveritlondon. I did make some alterations, I didn't taper the legs, and I added pockets. I stretched out the neckline when I put in the facing, so I took the facing off and made an elastic channel, a bit like the avenir jumpsuit. The back still has a closing with a button and loop. The fabric is a plisse fabric from @legendtextiles. The fabric was easy to sew, but I decided to do a rolled hem on the sleeves and legs. This is the perfect outfit for today, I'm off to celebrate my nieces 18th birthday today. Ich bin aber nur 1,60 groß. Und am Ende habe ich vom Oberteil zu viel weggenommen und die Taille ist ziemlich hoch. Ich denke ich werde ihn trotzdem tragen. And just like that, my first #MeMadeMay is over! I've kept up with my pledge to wear at least one memade every single day this month, and could actually keep going as there's yet more that hasn't made an appearance! I've even worn memade pyjamas every night too. I'm so proud of how far I've come over the past few years. I'm no longer saving things 'for best' quite so often and am now making garments that I can (and want to!) wear in everyday life 🥳 I've enjoyed revisiting some earlier makes, noticed that I sew quite a lot of blue garments (who knew!), and been happy to repeat outfits/items if the mood struck. I'm still working from home and taking the loosening of restrictions cautiously so I've not been out much, but it's been lovely to document and share what I've worn on here. I've also confirmed a gap I sort of knew was there already: bottoms (that aren't Hudson Pants!) Most of my RTW tees are from gigs and events and I love to wear them due to the memories they hold, but I've only really got RTW skinnies to pair them with. I've got skirts, dungarees and trousers planned for my next few makes so hoping to address that soon! A couple of things spring to mind having finished this #soipoppyplaysuit in the jumpsuit version: 1. I finally have something that really goes with these amazing yellow suede wedges that were an absolute bargain. 2. It’s so wet and grey today that you can’t get a sense of the lovely colours - that’s chocolate wrapper purple, not royal blue, you can see. 3. I wish I’d put in-seam #pockets in. Might retro-fit some. 4. I needed have bothered hand-stitching the turn-ups on the trousers and I’ll probably undo them. Pattern: @sewoveritlondon Poppy jumpsuit. Mods: bias binding neckline facing because I hate flappy facings. Also a button and loop closure at the centre back. Fabric: @minervadotcom viscose challis multicoloured PH-5973.
