#MeMadeMay2025 Day 4 At home wearing #closetcoreginger jeans, as it's a bit cooler today. Top is #soiaudreytop with a recent #scraptastic #bryonyslipover by @thewoollybadger over the top. I've been trying to knit up some leftover scraps as I'm saving my yarn buying for @the_big_flock_bristol in a couple of weeks time. I pulled out my blue and purple sock yarn and held it double to get gauge for this pattern that's written for either DK or aran. I got changed late afternoon for a trip to Bristol Beacon for a Star Wars music concert, wearing my red linen @landerpants with my #vestepilar by @maisonfauveuk and a recently knitted shawl in a yarn I got in a yarn swap.

AUDREY TOP Happy New Year everyone!! 🥂 I‘m not good with resolutions but my goal for 2024 is definitely to do more sewing again. So I used my motivation first to tidy up and clean my sewing room this morning (which was looong overdue) and then finished this top! It’s the @sewoveritlondon #soiaudreytop that I made out of navy blue cotton jersey. The fabric was a leftover piece from another project and I initially wanted to make a skirt out of it but didn’t have enough left. So instead of letting it lay around for another 5 to 10 years (😂) I decided spontaneously to make the Audrey Top. This cropped #MNHovea was in a #GAndGSewingSociety kit quite a while ago. I cut it out but never got round to sewing it up for one reason or another. Anyway, my mum felt sorry for the poor jacket and sewed it for me earlier this month (thanks @sunshinemakes) and today is its first outting. I'm wearing it with a plain black #SOIAudreyTop Which is proving a very useful basic.

I've been looking for a different jersey t-shirt to get away from my usual go to round necked t-shirts. I do like the comfort and ease you get with a jersey make. I had been looking at the Sew Over It Audrey top for a while, but couldn't make up my mind, and then it was in the 'bow' sale a little while ago, so I decided to give it a go. I wasn't sure which neckline to go for, so made a wearable toile, with the smaller tie neck. I've added a close up of the neck to show how it looks. I managed to get this top out of just a metre of fabric, result 😃 I will definitely be making this top again, I don't know why I waited to try it🤦‍♀️ I have already bought some pink floral jersey to make a long sleeved version for the autumn! 🪡 First make of 2024! 🪡 I had initially planned to make a TATB Agnes Top with this fabric. But, after not loving the blue Agnes Top I made in the Fall, I wasn’t really feeling it. Me Made May Day 5 Off out later for a stroll at Durham Park. I’m wearing my @stylearc Carlisle wide leg jeans with a @sewoveritlondon Audrey top in @artgalleryfabrics jersey. I love these jeans - I made them with the top down centre out method and they fit really well. Sadly the fabric has faded on the fly front - I think this is where it rubs against my cutting table as all my jeans have faded there 🤦🏼‍♀️ It’s quite a lightweight denim - I’d like to make these jeans again in something heavier. I made a top!! An actual top that fits me and I like!! So proud of this, the first top I’ve ever made, and my first time using jersey too. It’s a lovely thick jersey from #higgsandhiggs and the patterns is the #soiaudreytop from @sewoveritlondon. I struggled a bit with the neckline so it has some puckers in it, but I’m fine with that. Choosing a stripe for my first home sewn top was probably a bit ambitious but actually the stripe matching turned out great! Can we also take a minute to appreciate how nice and professional a hem sewn with a double needle looks?! It was my first time doing that too and it was seriously easy 🙌🙌🙌 Definitely going to make this again, next time I’m going to try a really fine knit I think. I decided several months ago to abandon my #makenine2020 as over half the items on there were meant for our 10 year wedding anniversary trip to Mauritius in June which obvs never happened because...rona 😢 So instead I present my alternative makenine, made up by me 😂, which is a celebration of my continued fan-girl obsession with @sewoveritlondon and another year as one of their Pattern Insiders. Sew Over It release a new pdf pattern every month and as Pattern Insiders we get early access (and free printing) so we can make up the garment ready for launch day. There is no obligation to make the pattern every month but as SOI patterns usually suit and fit me so well I do end up making most of them! This year I made 9 out of the 12 that were released.
