So nice I made them twice! After finding the size 10 a little loose, I wanted to try a size 8 before using pricier fabric on a full length pair. They turned out great and are soo comfortable. I'm very excitedly cutting out my bonkers leggings right now! I really need some new exercise wear so I decided to have a go at making it myself. I've got the Huby leggings and Kingsly top patterns from @sewoveritlondon, and some really cool fabrics (I think!!! My husband disagrees! His face when he saw the jellybeans was priceless!) to sew them up in. For the leggings I bought some recycled stretch fabric from @funkifabrics, who I've bought from before to make swimsuits. I chose strawberries and jellybeans! I absolutely love them, they are so fun. I love the idea of my jellybean butt doing squats! And for the top I bought a gorgeous soft bamboo rib from @sistermintaka, who has a super range of lovely bamboo knits. I'm not making the top yet just the leggings for now. The perfect fabric landed on my doorstep at the start of the week which provided the much needed motivation to get sewing again after a few weeks of feeling poorly I’m back at work now and feeling much better than last week although I know I need to still take it easy as the exhaustion is unreal! I’ve really enjoyed taking part in @sistermintaka #feelingsewmuchbetter challenge this week - it’s helped me focus on something positive and I’m grateful for the distraction Today is reveal day and I deliberately chose fairly quick and straight forward makes as I knew I would not have had the mental capacity to sew anything more complicated this week I’ve wanted to make some leggings for ages for when I’m out running. I have signed up for the @sewoveritlondon vip club this year which includes a free pattern when you join. I chose the Huby leggings and they’re a really great pattern. They go up to a size 30 (waist 50 inches, hip 60 inches) and consist of two pattern pieces if you go for the straight forward waistband which is what I did I used this amazing Lycra activewear fabric from @heysewsister.co.uk and I’m going to order some more to make a matching bralette To go with my leggings I wanted to make a bralette but didn’t have enough fabric left so rifled in my stash and remembered I still had some of this fabulous swimwear fabric from @sewmesunshine.uk I searched for a bralette pattern and came across the @radpatterns 25k bralette I toiled the bralette as I wasn’t sure if I’d need a regular cup front or a larger cup front. I’m glad I toiled as my first version was too big around the armholes. It’s fully lined and uses the burrito method for this - really satisfying when you turn it through! I’m starting the week feeling a little out of sorts. I find the weekend always whizzes by and after a very busy first week back at school I spent a lot of the weekend feeling exhausted and unmotivated To try and motivate myself I thought I’d write a list for each day of the things I wanted to try and get done. In hindsight this was a silly thing to do as this just made me feel under pressure to tick my to do list off. At the end of Saturday I’d only ticked one thing off - I think I’ll go back to writing my to do list after I’ve done everything then I can tick stuff off 😂😂 What I did do however was rest, spend time with my family and begin to learn a new skill so I shouldn’t be too hard on myself! My motivation to sew is hiding again this week too 😫 Luckily for me the lovely Sandeep from @sistermintaka has brought back the #feelingsewmuchbetter challenge and it couldn’t have arrived at a better time! CCC Challenge Turning the vision board into reality - part 3 I've used an animal print jacquard from @fabricgodmother that was an 'imperfect' remnant. I lined it with some cheap black cotton from my stash. The pattern is the @fibremood Kaya dress. I sized down but still found the fit a bit big on the shoulders - so I added some back neck ties to stop the straps falling down. I also bodged a narrow shoulder adjustment. Finally I've made yoga leggings!!!!! Taken some pics post teaching my yoga class, and I'm pleasantly surprised with there performance 😀 serious expression is needed when in mid pose 😄 I have made the Huby leggings by @sewoveritlondon I have added the very important (in my opinion) diamond gusset for extra holding power. Demonstration of this in the pics 😅 this doesn't come with the pattern, so I used the gusset from Greenstyle's stride leggings. I made a size 10, shortened the waist band by 2cm and shortened the legs by 2inches. They probably could be more snug, they are a little loose in parts, and slipped down in certain poses, so I may take them in. The fabric was bought from @littlelegsfabrics a long time ago. I’ve been trying to get a photo of my latest @sewoveritlondon Huby leggings for a while but it’s been proving tricky with the light and how to style them Last night as part of James’ birthday presents we tried bouldering at a new climbing place that’s opened near us and it was the perfect opportunity to get a #MeMadeInAction shot of my leggings I wasn’t sure how I’d find bouldering but it turns out it was really enjoyable and something we both loved trying together. Huby leggings Recently I've done a lot less sewing and a lot more lying on the sofa so getting the photos for this post felt like a proper workout!! I got the pattern free with the Sew Over It's Stitch School subscription. Instructions are generally really good but it helped having the video, especially as I forgot to snip a couple of the notches! This was a lovely quick and easy sew, and that's saying something as I'm a fairly slow sewer! For the first time I used my overlocker to sew the seams which helped speed up the process. I graded between sizes 8 and 10 as I'd rather not have to take anything in after. I always make toiles and I didn't this time and I'm really happy with the fit although for next time I'll take it in slightly at the seams to get a snugger fit. The leggings are super comfy - perfect for wfh, doing the school run and then collapsing on the sofa to watch Netflix. Fabric is something that's been in my stash for years! I believe its scuba but I bought on my first fabric shopping trip so I had no idea back then! Pattern is Huby leggings by @sewoveritlondon Fabric is probably a scuba from Goldhawk Road

I went back and forth about whether or not to share these new leggings on Instagram. They're not a very exciting make, and I'm not much of a legging person. I made these both as loungewear/sleepwear and in order to make trouser/pant fitting videos for YouTube. I don't intend to wear them out. These are the Huby Leggings by Sew Over It in back cotton jersey from Sew Me Sunshine. The jersey is really high quality and doesn't become transparent when stretching (important for leggings!!). The intention was to make full length leggings with a standard waistband, but I decided to use this fabric for a t-shirt and used the leftovers for these leggings. It worked out that I could still get ¾ length leggings with the diagonal waistband, which absolutely suits my needs. There is a little excess fabric in the front crotch area. I probably could have done with taking some fabric out, but it's not worth the risk of changing the fit in the butt. These are tight across the bum, and I'm not sure that they could handle any more stress! 🍑 These were crazy quick to sew up (20 mins?). I made them entirely on my serger. I didn't hem these because jersey doesn't fray, and I didn't want to add any extra bulk to the hem. They're a great, quick and easy leggings pattern! Why did I consider not sharing? 1. Black leggings are pretty awful to photograph. They're solid dark black (like the zoomed out photo), but if I correct the color, you can't see any of the details. 2. As mentioned above, these are for indoor use only. 3. How many photos of my a$$ do I really need it in the internet? But on the other hand, Instagram is the main way that I document/keep track of my makes. And maybe someone out there is considering making some leggings and would like an honest review. Day 2 of @sistermintaka #feelingsewmuchbetter and last night I spent some time piecing PDF patterns together, measuring myself and cutting the correct size out I never bother to trace when I’ve printed out a short PDF pattern - I think I’ve gone to the trouble of sticking it together and if it’s a pattern I’m sure the sizing will be okay for I cut straight into that taped together pattern 😆😆 This was a really therapeutic exercise for a Monday evening which means I now have 3 patterns ready to go. My next job is going to be cutting out my fabric before I can start assembling my leggings I quite like assembling PDF patterns - it’s like piecing together a puzzle and I find it quite satisfying when it comes together. I will point out though that this only goes for patterns with no more than 20 pages or so - anything more and it’s copy shop all the way! Are you team cut or trace? Are you PDF or paper pattern? I had another go at making the @sewoveritlondon Huby leggings and they were much more successful! I used more suitable fabric this time, a bamboo knit from @raystitch I made a size smaller than last time and also took a good inch and a half wedge out of the top of the waistband pieces which worked a treat and I no longer have the gaping issues in the back that I had before. The fabric is still a little thinner than I’d ideally like but I still can’t find any proper activewear fabric that isn’t from synthetic fibres. A not entirely successful sewing session this weekend ☹️ I made the @lieslandco Chai Tee and the @sewoveritlondon Huby leggings both in this super cute yoga themed 🧘🏻‍♀️🙏🏻🧎🏻‍♀️🤸🏻‍♀️ @ladymcelroyfabrics viscose crepe jersey from @fabricgodmother In hindsight this was not the right fabric choice, especially for the leggings but how could I make anything other than yoga clothes from it?! 😂 The leggings are a lovely simple pattern, very quick to make and with no side seams. As you’ll see from the last photo I need a substantial sway back adjustments as I have a lot of excess fabric there - not sure quite how to do that as the pattern piece is cut on the fold??? 🤔🤔 I think I may open up the waistband and pop in some really wide elastic to make this pair useable as at the moment I think they’d end up around my ankles once I started throwing some yoga shapes 🥴🥴 The top is a size Medium, C cup, graded to a Small at the waist to give it a bit more shape. I love the little pleat details on the shoulders but I’m not loving the dropped shoulder of the cap sleeves and my line of overlocking is making the seam sit all funny - I feel like I have wings! 😬🧚🏻‍♀️ I’m going to try both patterns again at some point but with different fabric, maybe a bamboo jersey? I don’t want to use proper activewear fabric as it’s all polyester which I hate. After a few weeks of involved, precise sewing, I really wanted an easy-to-sew palette cleanser. So I picked two simple makes and made a loungewear set for around the house. I wanted an oversized tee with bike shorts but I don't have patterns for those...so I improvised with what I've already got. The t-shirt is the Frankie baseball tee from @tillybuttons Stretch book. I sized up one size to a 4 and eyeballed the sleeve length. I wish I'd sized up more (I wanted it to be REALLY oversized) but I'm still happy with how it turned out. It's very comfy and I love a raglan sleeve. The shorts are @sewoveritlondon Huby leggings in view A (I shortened the 3/4 length view by 20cm.) I sewed a size 10 but am going to size down on my next version. Happy with both patterns, I would definitely make them again. The fabric was bought from another sewist's destash so I'm not sure where it originally came from. (For reference it's 50% stretch with medium recovery.) I wore quite a colorful mix this week, which feels like me. Though some outfits are more dressed up, all are extremely comfortable. I was surprised to see so many solid fabrics because in my mind, I sew way more patterned fabrics. I'd been trying to branch out to solids this past year, and I think I've gotten further than I'd realized.  I have enough me-made items to wear a different one every day this month (though I'd want to pair separates with some RTW), but I don't necessarily feel a need to do that. I'm taking it day by day, wearing what I want to wear, and it will be interesting to see where that takes me. I've loved seeing all of your me-mades in my feed/stories. It feels like a joyous celebration of our creativity, and it's been delightful so far. Thanks again Zoe ( @sozoblog ) for dreaming up this wonderful challenge.
