May need to do the same for other projects too :) I am not super into making any new year resolutions as it seems mainly a set up to fail scenario, but there’s nothing wrong with a bit of ambitious planning! This features: 1. The #rosecafebustierdress from @daria_patternmaking in a #lilacgingham linen cotton blend from @heysewsister.co.uk 2. The same again in a #neridahansenfabrics Sweet Jane gingham sateen from @sistermintaka 3. A hangover from 2021 in the form of a #helenawrapdress from @just_patterns in a lovely Japanese linen #hokkoh poppy print 4. The @byhandlondon #bhltamzin in an ex designer seersucker from @simplyfabricsbrixton (which I fully expect will look ghastly but oh well) 5. The @sewoveritlondon #soicharlottedress in some sort of dark red or pale yellow possibly linen, possibly something more drapey 6. The #bhlannadress in some stretchy abstract painterly viscose from @fabricsgalorelondon 7. The #soisurayajacket in some sort of dark red twill or gabardine as I am persistently behind trend and now want some sort of mac… (see also gingham) 8. Basically a copy of @kateevadesigns #riflepaperco #shelbydressandromper from @truebias in the strawberry fields rayon from @sistermintaka 9. Last but not least the #bhljenna in a blue gingham viscose from who knows where… Hopefully this will start to make some indent into the growing mountain of stash - good luck to one and all!

Really looking forward to showing you all how to make the #soisurayajacket by @sewoveritlondon on @sewingstreet on Tuesday! It has some really lovely details that you can chose to include! Epaulettes, straps on the cuff and the lined storm flaps/yoke give a nice nod to a traditional mac/trench coat. Welt pockets look both smart and functional and the lapel has a really nice rounded shape. There’s also a nice back vent detail too. The sleeves are lined for ease of getting the garment on and off, and I really enjoyed binding the inside for a Hong Kong finish. This one is made from a lovely navy linen! The Suraya Jacket from @sewoveritlondon was a project to slow down with and dedicate a few days to. Lots of little details, lots of hand basting and precise sewing here. I chose a blue linen/rayon blend for mine and I left the sleeves unlined 🧥 . . I made a few changes to the length and the fit to suit my height and proportions. Finally getting a chance to wear my @sewoveritlondon Suraya jacket. I actually made this back in January when I was stuck indoors in Covid isolation so it’s nice to finally be getting a chance to wear it! ☀️ This is probably one of the most technical makes I’ve done so I definitely had to take it slow - but the instructions break it down into clear, easy steps and I enjoyed having a longer, more involved make to immerse myself in. Fabric is a super soft Tencel twill from @guthrieghani. Worn with my @sewhouse7 Toaster Sweater in loopback jersey also from Guthrie & Ghani. [ID: Grace is leaning against a brick wall smiling. Been looking for a drapey moto jacket for awhile, something you could throw over a t shirt on a warm day, and the Suraya jacket from Sew Over It fit the bill. This is a modified version - I didn’t add the storm flaps, and added wrist straps and shoulder straps to use these brown buttons that have been in my stash for ages. Surprisingly I didn’t need to add any width to the shoulders or length to the hem, just graded between sizes. After literally over one month, moving house, hand sewing during chemo, and a total of 97 (!) steps, my @sewoveritlondon Suraya Jacket is complete! This jacket is by far the most complex garment I’ve made and I’m so proud of it!! It’s made of cozy flannel with rayon sleeve lining and is 10/10 comfy and warm. No I did not iron this before wearing it for photos. No I do not care that it’s wrinkly. #SoiSurayaJacket from @sewoveritlondon A weekend home alone, with no other plan than to sew, will lead to endless hours of sewing 😎 A good 18 hours! I also attended the digital get together hosted by @sysaker_com - where I got to present my jacket earlier today when I was finished with 2 hours of handsewing. The presentation was fuuun 🤩 Lets get back to the hours it took and what it does not include: -making bias binding and pressing them -Printing and cutting the pattern (x2 since I couldn’t find the ones I already made ready - and of course the time it took to find it one day too late 😆) -washing and steaming the fabric -cutting pattern pieces -interfacing the pattern pieces A whole lot of time - but it’s all worth it when inside is as lovely as the outside 😍 It’s a well constructed pattern with great instructions.
