I picked up a pair of linen blend pyjamas in Australia a few years ago and making a similar pair has been on my to sew list for ages - they’re light and breezy because of the linen but also warm enough for me to wear as the winter approaches/eases. . So I was thrilled when @minervadotcom gave me the chance to make something in their exclusive linen viscose - I knew exactly what I had to do! . Any questions please ask! *Pattern details* Brand: @sewoveritlondon Available in pdf and kit *Size details* Available in U.K. 6-30 My size was from an old pattern so the sizing is different, I made size small which is equivalent to 10-12 *Adjustments* I graded in from the hip to 2.5cm in either side at the waist as I was using a stretch fabric so didn’t need as much extra fabric. Term has finished and I have - at very long last - been able to get my sewing machine out. Just a quick pair of @sewoveritlondon Ultimate Pyjamas for myself, in cosy fabric from @flojofabrics. I had to match the waist band - at least on the vertical! - despite the scrappy buttonholes, the match has to be done. I have missed sewing so much! This is my entry for the #craftypjparty #craftysewandso. I was planning on making the Alderley cami but I couldn't find the pattern anywhere. So I changed my plans and used the #soilibbyshirt with the #soiultimatepyjamas from @sewoveritlondon I also brought this #cottonpoplin from them too. I am not sure if I did the collar correctly but it is functioning and it looks OK to me so I am happy with it. 😁 Thank you @craftysewandso for encouraging me to sew up this make. A lovely end to a miserable and COVID-y week, is a new pair of pyjamas. These are a pair of @sewoveritlondon ultimate pyjama bottoms and a @helens__closet Gilbert top in a Liberty poplin from @fabricsgalorelondon I love them, I’ve never had a full set of proper pyjamas like this before! I even made an eye mask to match! I’ve made loads of the pj bottoms at this stage, they are also one of my go-to gift patterns. However it was my first time with the Gilbert top pattern and although it’s the darling of the internet, at the moment it’s not love for me. I don’t know that I love the shape on me and the bust darts came out at least an inch too low! However, the instructions are fab. While I love the flared sleeves, I’ll have to see if they ride up and irritate me during the night, in which case I’ll adjust them. My favourite pattern company are celebrating their 10th birthday this month and have asked people to share their favourite makes. I came across @sewoveritlondon when I was trying to work out how to sew together the pattern pieces for an unfinished garment that I'd inherited from my Mum. I ended up watching lots of their tutorials and sewalongs on You Tube while working out how to attach facings, sleeves and pockets. I successfully finished that garment and was inspired to buy a pattern. The first thing I made was an Eva skirt from an old curtain. I later joined their stitch school and haven't looked back since. I think it's really helped me get through the last year. Finding a new hobby and creative outlet has been so important to my mental health as I've been living alone and shielding, trying to work online full time while dealing with a chronic illness. Sewing and connecting with the sewing community online has felt like a lifeline. I've found their patterns fit me really well, the style fits with things I like to wear and the instructions are easy to follow (plus there are lots of sewalongs available to help with tricky bits). I found it really hard to pick a favourite make but this my Emma dress, which I made through stitch school last year. I made two of these and have worn them a lot over the winter, great for work and really comfortable. I've also put together a collage of six other makes that I've worn/ love the most. Lockdown Day31 I sewed us all pajama bottoms last night. Girls' Harry Potter theme pjs made from @madebyrae #moonpantspattern without the elastic on the ankle but they love them flared and have requested daytime pants in same style. Love this pattern! I made these @sewoveritlondon Ultimate PJ bottoms a few years ago (in fact they were the first pair of trousers I ever made and only my fourth garment ever!) but I haven’t worn them much as a) I didn’t have a PJ top to go with them and b) they didn’t have pockets (I made them before I learnt how easy it was to put in-seam pockets in to a garment like this!) Both those issues are now fixed! I unpicked the side seams and popped a couple of pockets in and then made an @itchtostitch Visby Top from a lovely snuggly french terry that I bought from @sewoveritlondon a while ago. I took part in the amazing charity sewing event organised by @sewoveritlondon this week called @thebigsewoff where they sewed non-stop for 24 hours to raise money for the mental health charity @mindcharity . As well as donating money, all the clothes made are given to another amazing charity called @giveyourbest.uk who support refugees with clothing. I decided to make these Sew Over It Ultimate Pyjamas in this fab snuggly cotton flannel that was gifted to me by @minervadotcom . The fabric is so soft to the touch and just the right weight for a garment like this. It washed well in the pre-wash and didn’t lose any of its vibrant colours. The fabric is called Dancing Lights and is super fun, it would look great at Christmas but is also not so Christmasy that it wouldn’t work at other times of the year too. It’s part of the Minerva Core range so is available on all sorts of different substrates too. I think a party dress in the viscose challis version of this would look amazing! Merry Christmas from our house to yours. I hope however your day went yesterday it was filled with food, comfort and happy moments Since I learnt to sew I’ve enjoyed creating a tradition of making matching pyjamas for us all. This year I bought the fabric from @1stforfabrics and used cotton poplin for the bottoms and a pointelle fabric (super soft) for the tops I used the @sewoveritlondon ultimate pyjamas bottom pattern for Ruby, Lola and myself. I made the smallest size for Ruby and scooped out an inch from the crotch and side seams and for Lola I made the smallest size, scooped out 2 inches from the crotch, took 2 inches off the side seams and shortened the pattern piece by 2 inches. For my husband I used the @tillybuttons Joe pyjamas pattern For the tops I used my favourite @faye_studiojepson patterns: the Mini KLP for Ruby and Lola and the KLP for my top. For James I used the @faye_studiojepson rider T-shirt. As I was using plain fabric I wanted to identify whose top for whose so I decided to appliqué an initial on our tops using a festive fat quarter from the latest @sewhayleyjane box As a parent of a child with autism Christmas Day our day included pockets of opportunities for quiet and yesterday this meant a drive and a walk. July 2020, garments #10, #11 and #12 This is my french seam practice project. It was also my first time making something on the bias. I accept it is a bit matchy matchy but in the short term I don't care and once I get to grips with knits I'm planning to do a grey jersey top and leggings so I can mix and match and then I'll have two sets of pyjamas to go with my dressing gown. 😊 All patterns from @sewoveritlondon. Top is #soialderleytop a bias cut top , shorts are #soiultimatepyjamas both from #soistitchschool, though I did french seams in the shorts and attached the waistband differently to avoid any raw edges.
