April 2022. This week I've been making draw string bags. Super quick to make and a great way to use up those bits of fabric that seem too big to scrap but are too small to do make anything with. They are really useful when packing to keep things separate without need for plastic bags. Think they would also make good gift bags, I didn't buy a pattern but followed the @sewoverit sewalong on You Tube. Size of bag dictated by the amount of fabric I had. Only thing I've had to buy for these is yellow ribbon. The yellow fabric was left over from when I made cushions for my sister in 1996! I bought a reel of teal ribbon in 2020 thinking it was a nice colour and would come in useful. It has, as apparently I buy a lot of fabric with teal in it. 🤣 #scrapbusting #soidrawstringbag #lockdownsewing

Our Drawstring Bag sewing pattern is a great alternative to wrapping paper. You could even make a matching gift and bag to tie it all in. I started sewing when I joined a dressmaking club at my school, I was 8 and I got the sewing bug, that was 50 years ago!!! No one in family could sew so my Dad decided he'd learn with me fortunately our next door neighbour was an experienced dressmaker she helped us out on many occasions. Sewing has been like a thread weaving in and out of my life, teaching children in school, sewing for weddings, christenings, my home and my family it holds some cherished memories.
