One of them @sosewmegs came to Stockholm yesterday so we had a great day out with fika, visited tygverket to look at fabrics and walked around town and had the first summerdrink 🍷 out by the pier. Meg also brought me my share of the fabrics she won for us from @ohlssonstyger during the winter! 4 different viscoses to do something with. I think I have ideas for the blue and the black so far. We walked and talked a lot about sewing and checked out peoples clothes and how we could copy them. There's a very uncharacteristic, practical make in progress: a @sewoveritlondon Dorothy jacket in a fleece lined waterproof fabric from @minervadotcom There has been much procrastination (although not intentional - mummyhood is a full time job 🤣) but it's almost there. It doesn't help that I ordered the wrong size of eyelets (twice). Just the press fasteners and drawstring to go. 🤎DOROTHY JACKET 🤎 #soidorothyjacket @sewoveritlondon #memademay2025 I just finished one of my proudest makes; the Dorothy jacket in warm briwn oulskin from merchant and mills. I fell in love and bought both pattern and fabric as soon as I saw them but it has been in my stash for years but I finally made the jacket 🧥 and I am so happy I did! I really love it 🤎and will use it a lot! Size and alterations I used a rainjacket Inhave to compare the measurents with and both that rainjacket and the pattern landed me in size 16. I am very tall; 175 cm/5,9 and made the body of the jacket 6 cm longer and moved down waistchannel and lower pocket 1,8 cm. I made the sleeves 4 cm longer. Those alterations were perfect for me. Other than that it worked perfect. Fabric OXBLOOD ORGANIC COTTON DRY OILSKIN from @merchantandmills A rich aubergine. The finish is drier and crisper than other oilskins with a matte appearance. Unlike normal oilskin there would be no oil transfer, so you don’t need to line your garment or bag. This type of oilskin is water resistant, so this means that the water doesn’t completely run off it, but it won’t come through to the other side either. * 150cm wide and I used approximately 2 meters for the jacket. * 7.2oz /245gsm * Inspired by a 1910 patent for waterproofing textiles. It is treated with an emulsified wax which is heat-processed into the cloth for a longer lasting finish and higher performance.

🧥 Dorothy Jacket 🧥 My first me made coat of the year is finished and I was finally able to take her out for a spin today! It was my first time using soft shell, my first #soidorothyjacket and my first time using snap fastenings. The latter was a faff but I am really pleased with the finish. Soft shell is a revelation - the right side is water resistant and the wrong side is fleece, making for a super cosy coat without the need to line. It is very stable and easy to work with (no fraying) and I didn't even have to use any interfacing. This is from the @minervadotcom Core range in Wine - a lovely rich shade which will work well with other items in my wardrobe. The @sewoveritlondon Dorothy is a really satisfying sew, and the pockets, drawstring and epaulettes are nice details. I made it in my size according to body measurements chart and feel like it is a good fit, with some space for extra layers underneath. I am almost praying for rain so that I have more excuses to wear it!
