This is another recent make, my slightly hacked version of the Weekender Bag by @sewoveritlondon. I quilted the fabric using foam to make the bag sturdy. The gorgeous fabric is from @bygraziela_fabrics and I'm in love with it. Ad: gifted pattern I made my first ever bag!!! 🪡🧵✂️👜 This is the @sewoveritlondon Weekend Bag which is available on their Stitch School online platform (which I have free access to as one of their Pattern Insiders). The fabric is a cotton canvas that I bought from Sew Over It a while ago when they still had their shop. I’m a sucker for a polka dot and anything blue so this was right up my street. Having never made a bag before I was a little bit nervous but the instructions and videos were great and clearly went through everything step by step. My only disappointment is that I cut my lovely lining (left over from my Eden coat, a cotton lawn from @sewmesunshine.uk) upside down!!! 😂 swipe to see 👉🏻 I’m sure to an experienced bag maker it’s obvious which way round to cut directional fabric for bags but it wasn’t to me - at least it’s all hidden on the inside. For my first makes of 2023, I decided to have a go at bag making! I made this set as a birthday present for my mother in law. My partner's parent's love to have weekends away and I thought this set was perfect for that. The denim was from @craftysewandso and the purple lining and hardware was from @ohsewcraftyltd The bum bag and the card wallet are part of the City Set by @sewoveritlondon - I followed the Intro to Bags Masterclass on Stitch School, which I found super helpful and really easy to follow For the card wallet I added a little tab with a D ring so it could be attached to the main bag with a swivel clip. The bum bag I made with the optional welt pocket, and took a photo to confirm it can fit a purse, phone and a kindle (MIL is a massive reader). I've actually cut one out for myself I liked it that much! For the main bag I swapped out the sports bag out of the City Set and use the Sew Over It Weekend bag (also has a class on stitch school which I followed) as it's a lot bigger and ideal for weekends away. I added a detachable strap, a welt pocket inside and an elasticated strap with a swivel clip so she can attach her keys to it and find them easily when needed. All ready for my next adventure! This Weekend Bag is one of my #makenine2022 and I’ve been waiting for ages to use this fabric (probably around 8 years) but I love it so much I had to find the right pattern! * The bag is relatively simple to sew if you have experience. I’ve made a slight error in my zip choice and bought one that was open ended so I’ve had to sew a little stop in to stop it from coming out but it’s still useable. Today is July 3, which means it’s my mom’s birthday and me and my boyfriend’s two year anniversary! I made this bag as a gift for my mom.
