Realized this “new mom uniform” picture I posted in stories a few weeks ago actually shows off my first make of 2022! So yesterday I made the #soimarnicardigan in the knit I bought from @darncheapfabrics on Saturday. A quick and easy make and I’m really pleased with the result. Cost was $21 for 1.5m of fabric which was wider than standard. #letssewpink

Today's me-made item is fresh off the sewing machine... The Marni cardi from @sewoveritlondon in a jersey from @guthrieghani (jeans and white t-shirt are RTW). I didn't make any changes to the pattern but will deffo either make sleeves longer or add a cuff for next one. I'll also omit the pockets as whilst I love the size of them, I'm not a fan of how they gape out. And there was a lot of bulk at the top of the pocket where it meets the neckband. Finally made my @sewoverit marni cardigan, with it’s brilliant deep pockets 😁 My beautiful daughter🥰 gave me a voucher from @newcrafthouse who sell amazing designer deadstock fabrics. I used to to treat myself to 2.5m of this gorgeous, Cadbury purple, viscose fine interlock jersey. It’s such a fluid fabric, stretchy and slinky, which I was a little nervous of sewing…. However, the results are stunning and I can see myself wearing it a lot! I made the Marni Cardigan by @sewoveritlondon (pattern goes up to 57in chest and 60in hip) in late 2022 in luxurious viscose ‘Lima’ knit by @meetmilk_fabric The fabric is very drapey and heavy so the pockets drooped, not that I could reach the pockets anyway!! See pic 4 for evidence. I just didn’t reach for it - too long, the pockets bugged me - but the fabric is glorious and the colour works with loads of things in my wardrobe. So I’ve chopped it off and hemmed just above the pockets, and this is much more my style. Today's me-made garment was a re-wear of the @sewoveritlondon Marni cardi as it was overcast this morning but now the sun has come out (so only in RTW). Finished another Sew Over It Marni Cardigan - can’t get decent pictures this time of year, but it’s another fabric from my stash, not sure how long I’ve had!! This is such a nice quick make, cut out this morning and finished sewing tonight! #soimarnicardigan #sewover50 #sewoveritlondon

I've made three original versions of the #forsythedress for me and for friends, so when @frenchnavynow_ brought out the sleeve expansion pattern, I wanted to give it a try. . . In this version, the buttons are at the front, and there are these great gathered sleeves that dip at the back of the cuff. I forgot to interface the cuff, which we'll blame on my coldy brain. I used piping between the seam lines and changed the direction of the plaid. I'm picking holes now - I need to do a sloping shoulder adjustment, and the fabric is a bit bulky. However, I'm very happy with this as an easy day dress...worn here with thermal layers underneath, and the length is perfect with my #soimarnicardigan (last photo). I made this @sewoveritlondon Marni Cardigan last week and I absolutely love it! ❤️ The fabric was given to me by the lovely Kate from team Fold Line when she was having a destash and I knew it would be perfect for the pattern. 🙌🏼 It's a beautiful quality sweater knit and the finished garment is super warm and cosy - just what I need now it's suddenly very cold and blustery! 🍂 I made the size 10 with no modifications and the fit is great.
