I definitely won't be posting daily but my #memademay2025 pledge is to wear something me made every day (some only for an hour or so as I have a work uniform!) and to try and use this month to do a bit of an audit of my makes. Work out why I reach for some things more than others and use it to plan future makes! Day 1 is my @sewoveritlondon #soioonadress I rarely go for this one if I'm honest, the fit around the top has never been good and I had to pinch out darts in both the front and back as it was gaping (it was quite an early make and definitely before I ever did a toile) but it seemed ideal for the hottest day of the year so far! After a short wear and much irritation of the poor fit I've decided I'm going to cut this off into a skirt with an elasticated waist, as the fabric is lovely so I don't want to waste it!

Started late spring, the making of this dress became quite the journey! I purchased this lovely lemon-and-white striped cotton from @fabricgodmother and this is my 3rd version of the @sewoveritlondon Oona dress. In addition to lowering the waistband elastic and inner casing about 1” (2.5 cm) so that it sits at my natural waist as I did in my two previous versions, I also added an invisible zipper to the left side seam, which zips down to my high hip, to make getting into the dress easier. But when I first made it, it was transparent! So I added a white cotton voile lining to the bodice and worn with a nude half-slip, it was ready just in time to wear out for dinner on my birthday! J’ai acheté ce joli tissu en coton rayé citron et blanc chez @fabricgodmother et il s’agit de ma 3e version de la robe @sewoveritlondon Oona. En plus d’abaisser le positionnement de l’élastique de la taille d’environ 2,5 cm (1”) pour qu’elle soit à ma taille naturelle, comme je l’ai fait dans mes deux versions précédentes, j’ai également ajouté une fermeture à glissière invisible à la couture latérale gauche, qui descend jusqu’à ma hanche haute, afin de faciliter l’entrée dans la robe. Mais quand je l’ai terminée, elle était transparente ! I made another @sewoveritlondon Oona dress and I am smitten with how it turned out! I made it in this black and white cotton poplin gifted to me by @mistertissu years ago (with no obligation to sew or review it) and at first I had no idea what to make with such a loud (for me) print. I made this dress in a size 6 at the bust graded to a size 8 at the hips and I lowered the elastic and casing at the waist 3 cm to correspond with the placement of my natural waistline. I think that the simple, elegant lines of this dress work perfectly with this fabric and I couldn't be happier! 😊 . 🇫🇷 J'ai cousu encore une robe Oona de @sewoveritlondon et j'en suis ravie ! Je l'ai cousue dans cette popeline de coton noire et blanche qui m'a été offerte par @mistertissu il y a des années (sans l'obligation d'en coudre quoi que ce soit ni d'en donner mon avis) et au début, je ne savais pas du tout quoi faire avec un imprimé aussi flashy (pour moi). J'ai cousu cette robe dans une taille 6 en haut gradé à la taille 8 aux hanches et j'ai abaissé le placement de l'élastique et sa coulisse 3 cm pour correspondre à l'emplacement de ma taille naturelle. Just before we left for Paris I finished my newest @sewoveritlondon Oona dress, which I started on a buddy sewing day with @just.sewandsew way back in March! . The finishing touch it was waiting for was a self cover belt, which I got when my friend when to NY recently and collected a stash from Mood for me (friends are the best!) . I made this up in a fun holiday friendly print from @riflepaperco which has been in my stash for years. I serially considered getting rid of it at one point because I had no idea what I was going to use it for, but I’m so glad I kept it now!! . Wearing my @sewoveritlondon #soioonadress on holiday in the Maldives. Absolutely loved this pattern and am planning another. It has pockets , which is always a winner! 😁. I didn't have enough fabric so had to make it about 4" shorter than the pattern but am really happy with how it turned out. Fabric was originally from Aldi. It appears to be a quilting cotton. I bought it at a fabulous charity shop called workaid in Chesham, Bucks.

One of my favorite makes this spring! 💚 This is the @sewoveritlondon Oona dress in a textured and light mint-colored stretch cotton from @sotissus_com . I made the size 6 graded to a size 10 at the waist and I added two modifications. First, I lowered the waistband elastic about 3 cm so that it sits at my natural waist, and then I also added an invisible zip to the left side seam to make it easier to get in and out of the dress. The slightly elasticated quality of the fabric makes this more fitted dress super comfortable to wear and I love the crinkly-paper-like texture of the fabric! This is my 4th version of this dress and my favorite so far 🥰💚 .
