The dress closes with an invisible zip on the side and has a fully lined bodice.

I made this @sewoveritlondon Margot dress a while ago but I'm useless at taking photos 😂 It's raglan sleeved with a lined bodice and side zip and I did my usual SOI adjustments of lengthening the bodice by 1inch and grading 14 bust to 16 waist. I left the skirt as the longer pattern length but I might shorten it a bit next time. The fabric is a viscose I bought in a kit from Sew Over It. #sewoveritlondon #sewoverit #soimargotdress

Hi all—there’s a new pattern from @sewoveritlondon , the Margo dress. It’s an easy but stylish dress that one can whip up pretty quickly! It has raglan sleeves, and it is so easy to sew and wear! I made the longer sleeve version but there are shorter sleeves too. I used a printed cotton that’s a bit wild :) but I’ve seen a lot of cute versions using lighter weight fabrics. Check out the other versions from other #soipatterninsiders . I know this is the first of many #soimargotdress for me:) Also this dress is so comfortable i feel free in it…so I’m posting it for this months MAGAM sew along, freedom February! thanks to @suestoney and @sewing_in_spain for such a fun theme! #magamsewalong #magamfreedomfebruary #sewoveritlondon #soipatterninsiders #soimargotdress #sewover50 #sew50visible #sewoverageism #memadewardrobe #so50dresses #pdxsews

Afternoon all! @sewoveritlondon Pattern Insider here! Fresh off the machine is my new Margot Dress! (It took me a bit longer than planned around the kids! 😅) and typically I’ve just missed the collective reel! (I’m sorry @almitamade!) It’s made out of a cotton I’ve had in my stash for many a year from Fabricland I went for version 2 sleeves and a length between 1 and 2 due to my height and needing extra inches! I have also left mine unlined so I biased bound the whole neckline and finished the edges inside. A really lovely make with some different features! 🥰#soimargotdress #sewoverit #soishowoff #soishowitoff

Here are #mymakesforthemonthjanuary. Thanks Lou @sewmuchtodesign for hosting this challenge for the fourth year running. It's a great way to see what everyone has made and I always surprise myself too! . . My main sewing resolution this year is to sew more plains and make sure I have at least 3 tops to go with each bottom.. If you get my drift. So there are a few plains here. . . What a lovely dress made from Atelier Brunette fabric…beautiful! Yvette @gatherandease says: As a pattern insider for Sew Over It, I got to make the Margot Dress for release and here it is. 🥰 I made the size 20 in viscose crepe from Atelier Brunette that I bought at @fabricationsott I added 2” to the shorter version of the skirt. I did my usual high round back, low round back and sway back adjustments but ended up having to take up the waist seam quite a bit at center front and center back anyways. If you’re using a fabric that grows, like me, I would suggest leaving your skirt a bit longer to compensate for possible adjustments. In fact, I think making a muslin for this style of dress makes a lot of sense because FULL of darts for gorgeous shaping. You have a lot of opportunity to get the fit just right! I can’t wait to make the loger version with the full sleeves for the springtime in a floral print. #soipatterninsiders : So excited to share my first make as a @sewoveritlondon pattern insider 😃 PATTERN: #soimargotdress the Margot dress by @sewoveritlondon SIZING: My measurements are in my bio. I graded between 2 sizes. I chose the size 14 as it correlated with my bust, I then graded to a 16 for the skirt. ALTERATIONS: I normally have to do a FBA for any woven dress I make, however as this was a raglan dress I decided to just make it as it was. I am really pleased how it turned out. I must have narrow shoulders as I always tend to have a big neckline, so i pinched about 2cm from each side of the neckline. I also couldn’t get my head around the lining so ended up bias binding the neckline. FABRIC: Was a poly-viscose from Dewsbury market for £3 a metre! I bought 2.5m and had roughly 50cm left. Im not normally a fan of poly mix in my fabrics but i loved the print and as it was my first time making the pattern i wanted to try it in non-precious fabric. Bonus is that it doesn’t crease at all! CHANGES FOR NEXT TIME: I would perhaps add a couple of inches to the skirt length, to make it slightly longer. Also take my time and sew the lining in properly so i don’t need a bias bound neckband. The pattern was gifted to me for free for being a pattern insider. Honest Opinion: I really like this dress, I also inserted my first side invisible zip, it’s not clingy but fits just right i can just get it on without opening the side zip. The darts help in creating that lovely shape on the body. Im not normally a fan of a raglan sleeve but with this overall styling I like it. It reminds me of a 60s mini dress. [Image description: Safia wears a above the knee mini dress with thigh high boots and tights, the dress has a animal print in whites, blacks and blues. The dress has dramatic raglan sleeves and a slight a-line skirt] #soimargotdress #sewing #sewoveritlondon #sew #fabric #fabriccollector #imakemyownclothes

This is the 3rd pattern I sewed up in the last 10 days or so that is a woven, raglan sleeve style. :) This is the new Margot Dress from @sewoveritlondon -- there are 2 skirt lengths and 2 sleeve styles (the other one is a floaty, wide, 3/4 length sleeve), the front and back bodice are lined, and there is a side zipper. The verison of the dress I made has SIXTEEN darts. Yep, 16. Thankfully I don't mind sewing darts (while I do consider the worst step/task in sewing is cutting and applying interfacing ugh). Check out other makes with #SOIMargotDress I had a hard time photographing this dress as it was windy and somehow every single picture my husband took was out of focus except these 2 though I would consider the second one (swipe) out of focus. Introducing the new pattern from Sew Over It, the Margot dress! I made my version in a medium weight, rich-coloured crepe which lends the dress a luxury feel. I made version one, though I lengthened the sleeves and created an elasticated channel at the sleeve hem. The dress has a fitted bodice, so I made a toile first and tweaked the pattern to fit me. This is a relatively straightforward make - the instructions are easy to follow - though I found the neckline a bit fiddly; it's worth a practice run first to be sure you get it right. I think this would look amazing with chiffon sleeves - something for the summer perhaps! #sewoverit #sewoveritlondon #soimargotdress #soimargot #patterninsiders #memade #imakemyownclothes #sewyourownclothes #sewingismysuperpower #sewingismytherapy #crepedress #reddress

@sewoveritlondon ‘s first release for 2024 is so versatile. I chose a cute print in a cotton poplin from @spotlightstores Perfect for this summer weather 🌞🌞🌻I shortened the sleeve and popped elastic in for the perfect summer dress, pattern is designed to have long lantern sleeves which just aren’t practical here at the moment. Will 100% sew up a winter version soon xx. 👗 PS Way too humid for make up today 🫶🏽🌞🌞 #soipatterninsider #soipatterninsiders #soimargotdress #summersewing #fnqsews #australiasews #memade #isew #sewingtherapy #sewingadress #spotlightaustralia #sewiveritlondon

🧵 Sew Over It Margot Dress🧵 I am really excited to share my first #SOIPatternInsider make the newest Sew Over It Pattern The Margot Dress made in a lovely ditsy floral viscose that I've had in my stash for a while! I made version 2 with the more tapered sleeve, but did extend the hem by 5cm as I wanted this dress to work in my work and casual wardrobe. I didn't make any other adjustments to the pattern, but when I make it again I may move the waistline up by 1cm so it sits better on my natural waistline. The construction of the dress was different from a dress I've done before in terms of the darts and the bodice. The sleeve reminded me of the Zadie Blouse minus the cuff. The construction of the lining was different from previous linings I have made. It was an interesting make and just what I needed when I was feeling a bit in a rutt with my makes! I think this is a perfect dress for the weekend, heading out for drinks but also for work. I can see this being run up in various fabrics and being a go to in my wardrobe. I made a straight size 10. In a lot of the Sew Over It Pattern I make a size 10 in the bust and grade to a 12 in the hips. For The Margot Dress I found the straight size 10 fit me really well and is very comfortable to wear. The dress has a side zip, which I don't often come across in the patterns I sew. They aren't my favourite zips but it works really well for The Margot Dress and keeps the beautiful neckline free of a zip line. I can't wait to see all the other versions! Pattern: Sew Over It Margot Dress Size: 10. Added 5cm into the short version hemline Fabric: Ditsy Floral Viscose from my stash The pattern was gifted to me for free as a Pattern Insider [Image Description: Lolly wears a above the knee black dress with ditsy floral pattern. Introducing the new @sewoveritlondon pattern ⭐️ #soimargotdress 👗and my first make as a Sew Over It pattern insider ❤️ 🌸 Not only does this lovely new woven raglan sleeve dress comes with two skirt lengths above the knee, and below the knee, but it also comes with two sleeve options, a summery beautiful fluttery sleeve, and I slightly more formal long sleeve. 🌸 For confusion - I decided to lengthen the skirt (8” for reference) and extend the longest sleeve, and add elastic 🙈. I love that this makes this pattern so versatile. 🌸 There is a little dart in the shoulder on the sleeve which allows the sleeve to sit beautifully ❤️ 🌸 The clever construction on this garment means that the bodice is fully lined with no seams showing - which I love. 🥰 🌸 I made my version in a viscose crepe that I bought from @rainbowfabrickilburn last year and hadn’t quite made up my mind what I wanted to make with it - and I’m so pleased with the results and how it’s turned out 😊 🌸 So now I’ve satisfied my want for a longer floaty winter dress, I think next up will be a version of the Margot dress with the floaty sleeves - and I’m determined to shop my stash and use one of the viscoses I’ve bought previously 😂🙈 🌸 So will you be making the Margot? And if so what version 🤔??? 🌸 #sewingdress #shopmystash #floatydresses #sewingviscose #viscosefabric #raglansleeves #raglansleevedress #itssewme #winterdresses #longsleevedress #sewingformyself #sewistsofinstagram #sewsewsew #sewoveritlondon #sewoverit #sewover40 #patterninsider #sewinginspiration

This is my #soimargotdress which is the latest pattern from @sewoveritlondon. I'm 5ft 8 and I lengthened the bodice by an inch, in hindsight I didn't need to. I also lengthen the short length by 3 inches. I also did a bias bound neckline rather than lining it due to fabric limitations. But I'm looking forward to making another with all enclosed seams. I have made this in navy linen look viscose fabric and it's unusual for me to sew a dress in a plain fabric. But I think it would be great paired with a brighter coloured jacket. #soipatterninsider #stitchhemsew #sewistsofinstagram

Introducing the Margot dress 🥳 Very excitingly I have become a Pattern Insider for @sewoveritlondon and got the opportunity to make up Margot in advance of the release. I'm thrilled because I absolutely love Sew Over It patterns! Margot is a raglan sleeved, fitted dress with an invisible zip at the side. This project was a lot of new things for me. I've never made or fitted raglan before or done an invisible zip. The dress is full of interesting little details such as lining the bodice. I'll be honest, it's not my finest work which is annoying as I genuinely love the finished look! This is a great pattern if you fancy something a little different and ready for some more challenging details to get your teeth stuck into. I used a remnant I picked up at the knitting and stitching festival in Harrogate. It's a heavy viscose, feels more like a cotton with a sateen side to it. The structure made it easy to sew and holds the zip up nicely. I made a size 10 top and 16 bottom, attempted a high round back adjustment and took about 3 inches from the sleeve length to make it look more butterfly sleeve-like. I also removed about 3 inches from the back bodice length and 1" from the front. I ended up taking out the back darts in the bodice with my curvy back, this meant annoyingly I could have skipped the zip (which was not done well due to not knowing how the invisible zipper foot worked!). I made the mini skirt version with no length alteration. I learnt a lot from this project and it was great to use different construction methods! Excited to work on my next project 😄 #SOIMargotDress #SewOverIt #SewingForScoliosis #SewingProject #SewingTall #Sewing #Sewcialist #MeMade #MillenialSewing #MillenialSewist #HandmadeWardrobe #SewistsOfInstagram #SlowFashion #Dressmaking #DressmakersOfInstagram #SewersGonnaSew #ThanksIMadeIt #SewersOfInstagram #SewingIsMyTherapy #IMakeMyOwnClothes

The first @sewoveritlondon pattern of 2024 is here: enter #soimargotdress and I confess I had so much fun sewing it. AND, it's not teal or blue! . . Margot has raglan sleeves (2 versions) and a lined bodice, so straightaway I wanted to make this in a sheer fabric... Diving into my stash I found this chiffon remnant and some bits and pieces of red lining. I pieced the lining as I was determined to use what I had. Margot has two lengths so I used the longer length for the spotty chiffon and I cut a skirt lining with the short length. This is my nod to the transparent skirt trend! ... The last photo shows this best. The sleeves have an overlocked rolled hem and the skirt a baby hem. French seams on sleeves and skirt. I also started using French seams on the bodice too, but it's not necessary, the seams aren't visible.. I pinked as this fabric frays as soon as you look at it. . . This is a size 10, which fits fine with some ease on the waist. I made a toile and consequently shortened the back bodice, shortened the shoulder darts and lowered the bust darts. If you check out the hashtag #soimargotdress you'll see how great this looks in all sorts of fabrics. I'm a pattern insider for #soipatterns, so I was given the pattern in advance, but I can tell you that I'll definitely make Margot again. . . #newpattern #soipatterninsiders #reddress #vestidorojo #polkadots #sewover50january #sewover50 #so50visible #sewingmakeshappy #memadeholidaywardrobe #coseresmipasión #costurerasdeinstagram

My first make as a #soipatterninsiders and the first @sewoveritlondon pattern of 2024🧵 ❤️ I loved making the #soimargotdress 😊 the lining was really interesting to construct and left a really neat finish inside! The raglan sleeves are comfy but flattering at the same time ☺️ I made version 2 in a viscose from @rainbowfabrickilburn I made a straight size 8 with a 1cm hem and that was the only change I made. I’m 5ft4 for height reference. I can’t wait to take her out for dinner and drinks this weekend 🍸 #sewoveritlondon #handmade #handsewn #sewistsofinstagram #handmadewardrobe #sewing

Happy launch day to @sewoveritlondon and the #soimargotdress . What a wonderful first pattern of 2024! - full disclosure: I was gifted this pattern as a pattern Insider-. I did make some changes to make it more toddler friendly. - I decided to not use a lightweight, delicate fabric as I wanted it to be durable. I also wanted a more structured sleevse. So I used a midweight cotton for this version. - I sized up to get some ease. - I added one side pocket. I really love the final result and worn it non stop. First @sewoveritlondon release of the year - the Margot dress I was gifted this pattern as part of their Pattern Insider programme in advance of release. Margot is quite a simple dress. I love the look of their ultimate shift pattern but I need more shape and Margot gives that. It’s got raglan sleeves and a side zip. It comes together very quickly and I would say the side zip is the most difficult part. It is meant to be lined to finish it (so perfect for sheer fabrics) but I was trying to squeeze this out of 1.5mtrs so I finished it using bias binding and it worked perfectly. I made a size 12 and took 7 inches off the longer of the two skirt lengths in total. This is a bit of a simple dress to look at but I can see myself reaching for it weekly for work. The fabric is gorgeous lady McElroy viscose crepe which has been in my stash for 4 years so great to have it made up. Let me know what you think! #soimargotdress #soipatterninsiders #soishowoff #sewoveritlondon #memade #memadeeveryday #belfastsews #irelandsews

Sew Over It Margot As a @sewoveritlondon #patterninsider I received the new #soimargotdress pattern early. The Margot dress is a simple shaped dress with raglan sleeves, lined bodice, multiple darts & side zip. The pattern included lots of interesting finishes including lined bodice, binding and invisible zipper. There are sleeve and skirt options to choose from. When I first saw the line drawings I knew I wanted to make one. I love the #soigiselledress which has clean lines and darts. The Margot is also a slightly fitted dress with clean lines but with raglan sleeves. Sometimes a dress with less bells and whistles allows for the details to shine. Once I read the pattern I wasn’t as excited, because I couldn’t wrap my head around all the steps. Then needed to take the project along with me for the weekend and serged the edges of the pattern pieces since I was only bringing a sewing machine & was even more confused about how it would come together. Once I actually started sewing everything came together nicely. I used a @minervadotcom exclusive viscose challis and sewed a straight size 10 long sleeves & longer skirt with no adjustments. Overall I am happy with this dress and am happy to have another simple darted dress in my library, to show off fabrics and can be hacked. I also think that this is a pattern you need to make to understand the instructions. #memadetoday #memadeeveryday #sewoverit #soipatterninsiders #sewingforme #minervamakers #byalissa2024 #handmadewordrobe #sewing #sewist #garmentsewing #handmadewordrobe
