Two new makes for my recent holiday. The top is the #itchtostitchmadalena in 100% white linen bought locally. Really pleased with the front fit, not sure about the back, it seems ok when I wear it but doesn't look the best in the photo, but anyway I did not want it too tight. Love this pattern, planning another one in a lightweight cotton. The skirt is the Sew over It Xanthe #soixantheskirt made from a kit I bought at the Stitch Festival in 2024. It was quite an involved make but I really enjoyed making it, the pockets were interesting and lots of top stitching. Really pleased with the fit, planning to repeat it in denim soon.

We love the Xanthe Skirt for spring 😍 You can make it mini or midi (with a stylish front split) and she works beautifully in denim or cotton twill. Earlier this month, Montreal gave us a glimpse of spring, which I took for granted. My French naive ass is still adjusting to Québécois seasons, and as we’re witnessing an episode of freezing rain and occasional snow, I obviously thought that making a skirt would be the best project. Surprisingly, I was lacking of a classic denim skirt. After the red one I made last summer, I wished I had one more basic, but basically made with the same recipe. Here we go. I’m very proud of this one. The inside are CLEAN as I have a serger now, so are the topstitching. I’m still due for a button but can’t find my hammer. 🪡 Memade denim skirt The weather has been too rubbish to take any decent photos of the leopard print denim jumpsuit I made before Christmas so it’s still not on the grid. I was shocked at how much I enjoyed making this #soixantheskirt . It came together really well and that zip fly was a dream. The pocket construction is very clever and again went in fine. I did have a head scratch moment when it came to the split but that was because I had misread the topstitching instructions for down the front seam. Seam ripper deployed and all was rectified. Made this up during #sewvirtual hosted by @sewlikedotty Label from @kylieandthemachine and 2024 advent I’ve paired this with the #galaxytee @sewoveritlondon

Happy 2025!!! Wish you all an amazing year 💖 Let’s start with an outfit post. I made this pinafore dress back in October 24 (pre op) - it’s a little baggy but I’m going with it for comfort today . This is a mash up of 2 patterns. The top part is the @seamwork Dani pinafore and the skirt is the @sewoveritlondon Xanthe skirt. The denim is a medium weight with a little stretch from @rainbowfabrickilburn This was kind of a wearable toile as I’ve plans to do it in some leopard denim. The bodice is lined but the skirt is not - think I may need to add a half lining there as it sticks a bit to my tights. I’d also do a sway back adjustment. @sewoveritlondon launched their last pattern of 2024 yesterday. The #soiberet is a fun and quick project, would be great as a xmas gift and its a perfect scrap buster. Wore it together with my #bakerlooblouse . Ive had this pattern for ages and Im so glad that I finally got around to sew it. Im absolutely obsessed with this pattern and can’t wait to make a second one. I need to move the bust darts a bit and might shorten the sleeves a little. I hacked this one to have a button up front and love the look. I really like the big, puffy sleeves but might make one with regular sleeves so I can wear it under a cardigan. This skirt has been a labour of love. @sewoveritlondon have such brilliant kits. As soon as I got this fabric I knew it would match perfectly with a dress I had bought for a wedding in May and realised there was more than enough to cut out a bag as well as the Xanthe skirt. So everything was cut out in April with the bag finished whilst the skirt sat in WIP. I was scared of repeating the pink top stitching on the skirt with it being so obvious. Glad I took my time and persevered as I’m so pleased with the result. Inspired by the Jeans club girls doing a bit each week 😊. Then realised I had the perfect pink Edie top I made years ago to go with it too! This skirt will go with so many things! The @fridaypatterncompany #patinablouse 💜 This pattern has been on my list for so long and it really didn’t disappoint. I made a plain-ish version in a lilac shirting from Woolcrest that has a very subtle sparkle that annoyingly doesn’t really show on camera but gives it a whole extra dimension ✨The fabulous cloud buttons are from @ethelandjoan and the neckline is the perfect shape to showcase my new ridiculous/adorable Roy necklace, a birthday gift from my besties ❤️🐾 The reason I didn’t make this gorgeous pattern sooner is my bad luck with/phobia of buttonholes, but I recently got a new gadget that is a real game-changer! Swipe to the end to meet the vintage Singer buttonholer. You can attach it to most modern machines as a foot and it moves the fabric around to create the buttonholes. The cuffs were still a bit of a struggle but the stitches are so much easier to unpick for some reason so I was able to get there in the end without damaging the fabric with my failed attempts 🙌🏽 #sewing #almitamade #sewistsofinstagram #memadeeveryday #handmadewardrobe #powerblouse #soixantheskirt

Wearing my new @sewoveritlondon Xanthe Skirt, after being hugely inspired by the super cool @almitamade at the @thestitchfestival in London earlier this year! I wore it to Leeds Festival at the weekend to see Blink 182 - the perfect skirt to pair with all my band t-shirts 🎶 🥰 I hacked the waistband piece by using the curved waistband from my Dawn Jeans pattern, to get a better fit. In the first pics I'm wearing it with my new #weiland tank by @elbe_textiles. I've made 3 of these over the Summer and I've worn them nearly every day since 🤣 Definitely don't skip the elastic in the armholes though.....as I did with my first attempt! I had a lovely week off last week and sewed this @sewoveritlondon Xanthe skirt. It's a bit of an involved make with a zip fly and unusual front pocket construction but it was a satisfying sew. Left off some of the top stitching as my machine doesn't like it and it doesn't really show on this dark denim. I wanted a red classic skirt for the longest time, but never saw the right material nor the right color. So when I saw that sturdy canvas at @tissu_social all I had to do was to search for the right pattern. I’m quite a classic girl clothes wise. Sturdy fabric, crisp and classic lines. But I don’t understand why women’s clothes and patterns want us to have those frills and whatnots. So I had to practically craft my own pattern to make this perfect classic a line skirt. It perfectly goes with this @beaboutitzine tee I bought at the last gig celebrating the tape gathering a few of MTLHC’s bands. I can’t support Destiny enough in this way of enlightening and supporting the local HC scenes here in Montreal but also across Canada. ✨Xanthe Yesterday I met my lovely @tillyssewingcorner for tea, cake, and sewing chat ❤️ I decided to wear my wearable toile of the Xanthe skirt; I was pleasantly surprised at how easy I found it, and any mistakes I made (there were a few) was because I misread the instructions 😅the denim is quite light but that’s perfect for the spring / summer. For the sizing, I went up a size to fit my hips, bum & tum, but it was too big for my waist. As a quick fit, I added two darts to the back either side of the belt loop; it’s still slightly too big, but if I made it any smaller I’m worried it won’t go over my hips! Thanks to @sewnbykomal for her help ❤️ I made this Tabitha top years ago but have never worn it because it’s too short for me. Luckily I always wear high waist things so it’s not an issue. Hello new style! One thing I've never really worn is skirts, and the new trend of denim skirts got me wondering if now was the time to try. Enter this new pattern from @sewoveritlondon and I thought it was perfect for me to try, and you know, I think I like it! Pattern is the Xanthe skirt and I made the curve size 18. The fit is pretty roomy, and sewing it up was definitely a 'take your time' kind of sew. #memademay2024 day 14 has been busy and already nighttime before I got a photo. Now we're with friends at the Costa Blanca by their pool for my water pic. . . I'm a bit bedraggled after a day of travelling, then eating and drinking in the same clothes. Wearing #soixantheskirt @sewoveritlondon and #envolpattern blouse by @atelierscammit. This blouse in gauze given to me my my lovely friend @hportemanteau had long sleeves and I didn't wear it much.. I shortened the sleeves last year and I wear it all the time now... Sometimes it takes such a small alteration to make something just right.

My most recent Pattern Insider project the stunning #soimaeveblouse 🫶🏽 such a lovely make with some cool construction techniques, I ran out of time to test the cuffs but have a version planned soon! This blouse pair perfectly with the new #soixantheskirt to make a gorgeous complete outfit. For this version I chose a chambray fabric I have had in my stash for quite a while and I am so happy to see it sewn up. The team at @sewoveritlondon have give a few options to finish the front with either button or ties, having seen the #ganni top everywhere recently I had to try the ties!
