This is my @cashmerette #hampdendress made with a viscose wool check from @rainbowfabrickilburn with #hocuspocusbuttons by @pigeonwishes.shops I’m obsessed with these buttons and also I did mitres corners for the first time so I think this is my entry to #magamsewalongdecember #magamdopaminedecember I’d been planning this dress for ages but it was a bit of a rush job and finished at midnight before I needed to wear it (#fibromyalgia #essentialtremor) I definitely should have pressed it more but these pictures were taken after several hours / whole day of wear. The #cashmerettehampden came together really quickly and was easy to sew. I’d made a couple of toiles first to get the fit and I think next time I’ll move the princess seam in a bit. I tried some #patternmatching but it wasn’t entirely successful. Fortunately the robes hide it and no one will really notice. This takes my #whole30fabricchallenge total to 18.9m. I have about 50cm left so I’m thinking about making either a #japaneseknotbag or the #soiberet but it might be a bit too thin. I've spent this afternoon making the new @sewoveritlondon #soiberet pattern . It was such a fun make and it used up some fabric remnants that I had . The inside is just as lovely as the outside, I may end up wearing it inside out 😄 I made a size medium I think the outer fabric is corduroy, no idea what the lining is as both from the @poundfabrics remnant box I purchased at the beginning of the year. First make of 2025 - and it’s a hat. Suzy @sewing_in_spain has made at least 8 of these and recommended it as a quick make. And yes, it would be if you don’t catch the lining in the binding and have to unpick it🙄. It’s the #soiberet and I made version 2 - with the bias bound inner edge. I thought it looked like the binding was completely hidden but a 1cm ‘band’ remains. I was pleased I realised this before I tried to use a contrast binding! All materials are from stash: bouclé left over from the jumper I’m wearing, viscose lawn lining from a @sewover50 challenge prize and a ‘scrap’ of readymade bias binding. I remembered to add a label (small Liberty scrap: last photo) to mark the ‘back’ (where the binding is joined). I made a Medium (58cm head circumference); the fit is spot on, and comfortable. Now I fancy a tartan one to match my Clare skirt (on the washing line). Yes, the skirt is a zerowaste pattern but I have enough leftovers as I had more fabric than the pattern required. #2fromstashamonth @septemberfaden @salixsews #sewover50 #sewover50jan #so50hats #mymakesjan25

To brighten up a dull day I started constructing a tartan beret… and then found I’d finished it! 😀 It really is a quick sew. This is made from the leftovers of my #clairskirt (made 2 years ago). Wore it together with my #bakerlooblouse . Ive had this pattern for ages and Im so glad that I finally got around to sew it. Im absolutely obsessed with this pattern and can’t wait to make a second one. I need to move the bust darts a bit and might shorten the sleeves a little. I hacked this one to have a button up front and love the look. I really like the big, puffy sleeves but might make one with regular sleeves so I can wear it under a cardigan. As Spanish Christmas comes to a close, here is the last of my handmade gifts. In total I made 8 #soiberet! Including 2 for me.
