Catching up with #memademay here is day 2! This is the #cielotop @closetcorepatterns worn with #blackwoodcardigan @helens__closet. On cielo: this is the perfect woven tee with a lovely slanted shoulder detail at the back. It’s great for 1m of viscose (of which I have many since I’m a sucker for a good print and LOVE the feel of viscose on my skin) and it doesn’t cling in any of the places I don’t want it to! It’s great and why I haven’t made more of these I don’t know… on Blackwood: this cardi was made almost as a wearable toile because when I bought this sweater knit I was not at all convinced by the colour which does NOT fill me with joy and seemed a bit ‘meh’ …. Anyway long story short this is one of my most worn me made garments ever. It’s also one of the most flattering since the long lines really draw the eye down and given I have an annoying Hashimoto’s related weight gain at the moment over which I have pretty much zero control it’s been a garment that really helps me feel well put together more like myself! It’s been a crazy busy hard last week or two and I haven’t completed any ongoing projects. I have two that are near completion and I’m really excited about both, but the most I’ve been able to sew lately is one or two seams a night. For my Make Nine 2023 plans I want to focus on outerwear, with a few wardrobe staples in the mix. For my first project I'm going to make the @cashmerette Lygon robe. It's only available through their #cashmeretteclub. I saw the one that Whitney @tomkatstitcherycarmel made and knew I needed one as well. I purchased a medium weight cotton waffle fabric in purple sage from @minervadotcom. The next make I have planned is the McCall’s M7637 - Men's Bomber jacket. My oldest son has asked if I could make him a bomber jacket in black canvas because he can't find exactly what he wants. The fabric is from @corefabrics. I didn't know that this pattern doesn't have a facing, so I'm going to need to draft one, because he also wants it to have a removable warm lining. Then a jacket for me. I'm going to make the Kelly Anorak from @closetcorepatterns. I have some brown canvas from @stonemountainfabric and a flannel lining from @stylemakerfabrics. My husband asked if I could make him a vest and then a few days later @merchantandmills released the Billy Gilet. I showed it to him and he said "yes". I purchased the Chalk & Notch Joy Jacket sewing society kit from @guthrieghani in maroon. This should be the perfect light weight jacket for Spring. I also need a few layer pieces so I would like to make a few @TrueBias Zoeys. I'm sure I have something in my stash I can use. Going to try again to make a longer cardigan, but this time I'm going to try @helens__closet Blackwood. I've been longing for a @grainlinestudio Thayer for some time now. Maybe I'll get it done this year. I have some brick twill from @guthrieghani that I think will be perfect. And some more flannel for a lining from @stylemakerfabrics . I shorten the sleeves by an inch. The fabric was a miss : soooo soft, but it rapidly lost its luxurious shine and began pilling. Anyway, it won’t be the last time I sew this pattern. #memademay Black and green. And another #blackwoodcardigan from #helenscloset . I have a few of those. This one is made from a cotton jersey. The blouse is #fibremoodamber . In size xl. Actually, picque, jacquard jersey or french terry is recommended for this pattern, but the pattern is cut so boxy that you can also use woven fabric. The button placket should actually have buttons, but I didn't bother with them. I edged the collar with a pink bias tape to create a nice contrast. The fabric is a textured viscose from last year's fabric market. I made the blouse late in October last year and then it was too cold for it. So I wore it for the first time today. Not really a sleeping porch, but it’s a porch I sleep out on sometimes. (A lot of houses around here were built with screened in sleeping porches for hot weather). It’s like glamping 💕. And no… I’m not worried about bears or wildlife since it’s on the third floor, but the occasional bat 🦇 does make me nervous. #memademay even in my sleep 😉 #gsnorahnightgown by @greenstyle_patterns in deliciously soft fabric from @sasfabrics . They have a lot of fun fabrics and this one was by the pound. It has 100% stretch, so I lined the top part with a spandex jersey which turned out to be perfect. I used clear elastic along the inside front v neck, but next time I will use it in the armscyes too. This is the longest hem length. There is a mid thigh option and also a “sassy” option 🤣. I made this yesterday and tested it overnight. Nothing fell out 😉. But I think I’ll make the other view that doesn’t overlap in the front bc I think that will keep things more contained. One is definitely trying to escape. 🫢 It’s kinda an underrated pattern! I love it for a nightgown and it has three kinds of chonees too (that’s underpants to anyone who didn’t grow up with Mexican Spanglish). Das schöne am Nähen ist, dass man sich für alle Gelegenheiten das passende zaubern kann. Der Blackwood Cardigan von @helens__closet stand schon länger auf meiner to sew Liste. Jetzt habe ich ihn endlich genäht. Passend zu den jetzt kälter werdenden Tagen. Da der erste mir so gut gefallen und auch ohne große Änderungen direkt gepasst hat, habe ich direkt einen Zweiten genäht. Bei dem zweiten Cardigan (auf dem Bild) habe ich das untere Band verkürzt, jetzt ist er perfekt 🥰. Der andere Cardigan hat es nicht aufs Bild geschafft (Klamotten fotografieren ist noch schwerer als Quilts 🤣🤣🤣). Zu dem Stoff habe ich eine Geschichte, die ich glaube ich nie vergessen werde: eigentlich wollte ich den Soft lima knit von MeetMilk bei Barbara @dasmachichnachts aus dem Shop bestellen. Oft lag er im Warenkorb und ist doch wieder raus gewandert. Als ich dann endlich bestellt habe, musste es schnell gehen. Ja, was soll ich sagen. Ich hab anstatt dem traumhaften Strickstoff 2,6m Voile bestellt 🙈. Der hütet jetzt den Schrank und der schöne Strickstoff ist noch bei Barbara im Shop 🤣🤣 Wenn jemand zufällig ein schönes Schnittmuster für Voile hat, immer her damit 😅. Mittlerweile kann ich über meinen Fehler lachen (und muss es auch jedes Mal wenn ich Voile lese 🤣🤣🤣). Den vernähten Stoff habe ich dann bei @kleinkariert_stoffversand gekauft und er ist ein Traum 🥰. So weich und kuschelig, dass ich gar nichts anderes mehr anziehen möchte. Das Label ist von @lale_loup. Ich weiß gar nicht warum ich vorher noch nie Labels vernäht habe. Gut, dass ich mir direkt eine kleine Auswahl bestellt habe 🥰. The fabric is something mysterious from the fabric. A firm jersey with polyester. The striped part is basically the wrong side of the fabric, which I just used as a cuff and collar. This is the first blackwood cardigan I ever made, probably 6 or 7 years old, and I still wear it a lot. Unfortunately I can't remember which sizes I made. Maybe I'll find some notes somewhere, then I'll add them later. The necklace is also homemade. I saw a YouTube tutorial at some point and simply copied it. #magamsewalong #DecemberDonation. Our family holds a Yankee Swap/Nasty Santa party just before Christmas most every year. This year I made a knit duster vest for my present. Lush day at #sewtoon today. Fabulous day of chatting, sewing and generally fixing the world. My overlocker decided to be a pain in the behind but the ever so lovely @suzy_watson loaned me her so I could finish my mum's Christmas present 😂 Today I have made a @tillyandthebuttons #berthacardigan using a slubby green sweater knit from @minervadotcom. I used both sides of the fabric so I have a lovely contrast on the sleeves and hem.
