Wearable toile of the @helens__closet #lawrencedress using poplin from @spotlightstores. Alterations: I didn’t go with 3 tiers because I have limited fabric (I have kept this towering in my a tail fabric too). I also added pockets (of course). And finally, I added elastic to the waist, so it’s cinched in forever. No changes to bodice, fit was really good. My latest @helens_closet #LawrenceDress and my @sosuknits #BaselineCardigan - I think they’re a great pair for this awkward time of year! - I made the Size 14 D-Cup, sleeveless version, with no modifications, in one side of a duvet cover, with the added pockets. I used the pattern piece from the March dress, it anchors at waist, so no flappy pocket bags! Hey friends! Long time no post! I have been sewing but behind the scenes, as posting here was just too much effort 🙃 But, I recently made a few things I’m just too excited to share! One of my favorite prints is the iconic Unikko print by @marimekko, which is hard for me to find as fabric here in the states. From time to time, I search for Marimekko in the bedding section of Poshmark, and a few weeks ago, I saw a lone queen sheet for a mere $45.00. Instant purchase. I was thrilled to discover that I could squeeze three garments out of this sheet. First up, I made a self drafted maxi skirt. I kept the hem of the original sheet because it was deep and gave the bottom of the skirt a nice weight to it. Next, I made the Helen’s Lawrence top. This used a very small amount of fabric but packs a punch! Last, I made a Peppermint Patterns wide strap maxi dress. I love a square neck and it’s the perfect dress with simple lines to show off this fabric. Another ruffle sleeved Lawrence top that I hurriedly finished in late April before I jetted to NYC for a month. Roll up, roll up! Come look at the freaky arm girl - only in New York for 3 more nights! Rock bottom prices! I realised I have at least 2 of this top that I made in quick succession that I’ve neglected to document. This is THE most perfect work item I have ever made - dressy but not too dressy, professional but not overly so. I’m so glad I whipped these up back home as they have been staples, esp as I’ve been in the office every day here… I didn’t make any changes after my initial one out of the starry fabric, at least for this creamy version. I did alter the interfacing for the subsequent yellow as noticed there was a bit of pulling on the v when I finished/washed this one. Apparently I’ve booby trapped my craft room by using the top of the door to store my pin-laden toile. Beware all that enter here! Anyway, here’s a new super cute top I made over the Easter holiday weekend. I’d got this job lot of viscose rayon intended for a dress, but wanted to check the fit of it by making a top first (I have enough fabric 😅). It turned out super cute! I think I should probably try and alter the darts so they point towards my apex, as they’re a little high at the moment. But so pleased, and took me like an afternoon to sew.
