What do you do when travel plans change and you find yourself spending a day at the campsite by yourself? Haul out the sewing project! I needed to work up a muslin for a pair of pants for my daughter whom I was seeing later in the day. I had brought only the muslin and few supplies including a super cheap sewing kit I keep in our van. No sewing machine. I got to work - traced the pattern, cut out the muslin and hand stitched the pieces together. What a fun process for me. I found the hand stitching to be very rhythmic and satisfying. Thankfully the weather was pleasant and I totally enjoyed the backdrop of birds and nature. This is my third pair of @papercutpatterns Guise pants but I never took photos of the first two - the fit wasn't quite right for me. This time I made a few adjustments and am so happy with how they came out! They're size 3 graded to a 5 around the hips. I used some beautiful navy corduroy that I was given from my mums friends late wife. I’m trying to build up more sensible and classy items in my wardrobe that I’ll want to wear for longer, but am struggling to find the perfect tailored trews 👖 These are #v9189 and a pretty good shout - I like the rise and the slash pockets but think I want more details like back welt pockets and maybe a fly front. I unpicked the front darts into pleats as they angled a bit weirdly and didn’t look right, but I’d like to make them more of a feature. The closet core #sashatrousers look good but seem quite a low rise? Same with the #papercutguisepants. Finally decided to go full paprika suit today. Not sure if I love it but had to give it a go for #memademay2022 Day 12 Pants are #papercutguisepants from @papercutpatterns in paprika linen from @wearethefabricstore and the jacket is a vintage #burda pattern in the same fabric with llama lining. Squeezed both out of a 2.4m remnant. The jacket does sit flat but these photos are a little odd as I’d had a coat over the top. My #2019makenine plans! First up and most urgently, #sewyourownactivewear Active Leggings in thermal lycra with reflective piping, #gingerjeans and a #sewyourownactivewear warm-up top. I also want to to develop my own slopers and start making some basics from them. There definitely will be several #strathconahenley requested by my husband, and I also want to try my hand at making a bra (maybe the Harriet?). Finally, a #lieslandcoclassicshirt, #seamworkaudrey and #papercutguisepants. I've never been able to find a classic shirt, jean jacket or interesting pants that fit me in stores, so I'm excited to have these staples in my closet! I already have fabrics in my stash for most of these projects, so I'm hoping to decrease my stash a bit too! @makeninechallenge
