Work this week was a very welcome distraction from one of the worst weeks in my life. Losing someone in your life is devastating, life changing and all consuming until you can live with the grief. Papercut Patterns Fall Turtleneck & Daughter Judy Brier Pants Sometimes ads know what we need. I started getting ads for @fluidplusdrape with the @fabricgodmother Ace Denim so I took it as a sign and ordered some. I knew I wanted to make a pair of wide leg trousers and wanting to try a new pattern. Since my first pair of @daughterjudypatterns coe trousers were a success I decided to try the #brierpants . I made a size 8 with no adjustments. These came together quickly. The only changes I made was to reverse the lining fabric so I can see the print on the inside of my pants rather than it being inside the pocket. And I did a shorter hem to keep them longer. For my next pair I will make a small seat adjustment and maybe add some length. Other than that I am happy with the fit. I made a @papercutpatterns fall turtle neck. I love the #riseandfallturtlenecks pattern, both options are so different and meet different needs. This is an extra small using @thefabricsnob boyfriend knit. I also used the leftover Ace denim to make the new @thalias__threads #cornwallcrossbody (see last photo). I made the small and I can’t wait to make more! I am looking forward to pairing these leopard jeans with other tops, but I may need to make some more solid tops! Have you joined the leopard trend? Is it an 🍳or is it a 🌼 It has been COLD lately, which has made me realise the giant hole that is long sleeve tops in my wardrobe! I wanted something that would keep my neck warm, with or without a scarf so obviously I made the #riseandfallturtlenecks. I shortened the smaller turtleneck by half so that it was only a little 🐢. Hello, I'm still here, still sewing! 🙃 Had a great day of spring weather yesterday, and back to 30 degrees and windy with a winter storm warning tonight so I figured it wasn't quite time to stop wearing long sleeves. I've had a yard and a half of this rib knit from @joann_stores for a while, and decided to try out the Fall version of the Rise and Fall Turtleneck from @papercutpatterns . I was able to use my projector to cut the pattern, after isolating my size and unfolding the pattern pieces in Affinity Designer. From purchasing the pattern to the final product took about 3 hours! I chose to not hem the sleeves or bottom - I like sleeves longer so I can tuck my hands inside if I want to, and also every time I try to hem knits they ripple horribly and I end up cutting the hem off so...I'd rather just avoid that. New top and skirt for birthday tea ✨ the top is based on the #riseandfallturtlenecks pattern but widened and then elastic sewn in for faux shirring. The skirt is a self drafted wrap skirt with some darts and a bit of elastic in the back to prevent gaping and also mitred corners which are perhaps my greatest achievement. Very pleased with how both turned out and they gave me plenty of room for lots of pasta at the weekend

Hi! I made this outfit 🖤🤍. The first time I wore this to work, I managed to spill 3 different stains on the white skirt. It is a tricky business wearing white when you are a messy eater. My funkiest make yet! I absolutely love this dress 😍 I found this fabric at an op shop a few years ago and new that it would make the grooviest slip dress. And when I found @fridaypatterncompany #saltwaterslip I knew it would be perfect, and it was! This dress is super comfy and is also just a fun and bright outfit! Episode 2 of The Sew Many Projects podcast Grace and I discussed autumn/ winter sewing patterns and our hopes to make some of them! Enter @papercutpatterns Rise Turtleneck sweater 👏 I’ve been wanting to add some staple pieces to my wardrobe and I love dressing for winter so I knew this pattern would be perfect! It is such a quick sew! 🙌 predominately constructed on my overlocker and for my hems I swapped to my sewing machine and finished with a twin needle! So many compliments saying that it looks very ready to wear and not handmade which is such a win in my books! In the past I have sewn size 4 clothing from Papercut but my bust size has changed being 34weeks pregnant. I measured at 98cm and opted to sew size 5 even though stretch is forgiving because when I’m post partum and breastfeeding there is the possibility of needing that extra ease. I opted for the rise variation with a shorter turtleneck. For my fabric I purchased a cotton elastane jersey in Melange teal from @wattlehillfabrics. They have such an amazing range of basics. It’s such a beautiful soft fabric with great recovery and works beautifully for this pattern. If you were to make the folded down turtleneck I would widen the piece if you prefer it to be looser. I specifically chose this colour as it is one of my absolute best colours from the colour analysis that was done with @thecolorkey_ I’m a soft summer and when I’m focusing on trying to build staples in my collection I am choosing fabrics that match my best colours. I can’t wait to play with layering this turtleneck! D I D I V S F A L L I haven’t been very good at documenting my makes lately, so here is a two in one post! I’m really happy with my Didi sweatshirt, so I wanted to make another one. This time I was going for an extra warm and snuggly version! I made some mods based on my last Didi sweatshirt where I added too much length to the sleeves. However, I somehow miscalculated massively- or maybe the fabric was just too different from the first one! When I tried it on, the sleeves were way too short 😅 I didn’t bother to make new ones, I just cut them off and decided that this was meant to be a body warmer instead. So I combine the Fall bodice and sleeves with the tighter Rise neckline and turtleneck collar. Slow, intentional sewing 🪡 this @papercutpatterns #riseandfallturtleneck was something that was much needed now the temperature has dropped so sharply in Aus 🥶 this is the Rise version, no mods, no notes…great pattern! Fabric is a cotton marle jersey from @spotlightstores which was perfect for this make! Now that I am almost stash-less I have been focusing on repair jobs, tailoring and upcycling items from my wardrobe, I’ve been gluing shoes, polishing belts, dying tired tees and it has been so rewarding, everything old feels new again and I now know what gaps I can fill, at a slower pace 🩷 Delving into colour season type and knowing my style has really made me appreciate what I already have and makes me pause and consider what I really want to make. Winter Pink! 💕 I’m not sure what it is about jersey at the moment, but I seem to have sewn a few pieces recently. It’s that layering time of year here in the UK. I made a version of this top last winter, and it was before I learned about a broad shoulder adjustment. I ended up cutting the finished top into 3 pieces lengthwise and inserting strips of material to get the width across the shoulders. It’s now one of my favourite makes. As Tim Gunn says ‘make it work!’. I’m sure everyone has at least one ‘make it work’ project they now love…do you? This is the @papercutpatterns #papercutriseandfall made up in luscious merino jersey from @wearethefabricstore in the colour “Forest”. The pattern was easy to use and I love the dimensions of the turtleneck - no itching here! As for the fabric, I am a long-time devotee of #wearethefabricstore merino jersey and this one was just as gorgeous as all the others I’ve sewn with. In exciting news, I used my coverstitch machine for the sleeve and hem finishing (swipe to see!).
