OK - I’m in love! 🥰 I bought both the @closetcorepatterns Pietra pants pattern and the @papercutpatterns Palisade pants pattern a while ago. Made a toille from the Pietra’s but was not a 100% pleased. Will need to do adjustments and try again. With the Palisades however, I decided to take a chance and make them in the nice fabric directly. Never made something with that sizing system but decided to use the hip measurement and hope for the best with a size 5. Since I have no defined waist really I decided to use the elastic length for a size bigger. Also added 5cm to the length. The result? Fits like a glove! Will make more! ✨Palisade Pants✨ I was looking to add a slim fitting pants to my Spring Capsule and remembered that I had the @papercutpatterns Palisade Pants. I made these previously in a beautifully soft lyocell drill from Maui Design but this time, I wanted to make a linen pair. Did you know there’s a whole section of linen called suiting linen? I thought all linen was the same but when I was looking for fabric to make these, I found linen in suiting fabric and discovered there’s a heavier weight and weave of linen for the purpose of more tailored items like pants! Sewing Notes: •Made the size 5 and shortened the length by 2 inches for my measurements (33W:40H) •Used 2.5 m of the suiting linen •Very adjustable waistband because it’s elasticised •I had found the pockets a bit bulky with the drill that I used previously and you all know my struggles with ironing so this time I did a little mod by using muslin for the pocket facing and it’s made a difference to the feel of the pockets. I’m happy and I know that the white facing is visible when the pocket opens but I’m ok with that! I’ve been seeing a lot of people jogging in their outfits lately and I would take this for a jog because they are so comfy but it’s been raining non stop so no demo today! Cette fois, j’ai opté pour de fines rayures bleues sur un coton assez épais. J’adore l’originalité des poches, c’est ce qui fait tout le charme ! Il est très confortable et je l’ai surpiqué presque partout pour avoir des surplus de couture bien plaquées. Je l’ai fait volontairement assez court. The magic of the palisade pants are those pockets.There’s extra magic for me in getting the hips/ waist ratio right for Ruby and the elastic back. Trial pair from a tablecloth followed by a black denim, brown wool and soon corduroy.
