This fine Sunday brings an Array with a fray The first trip through the washing machine revealed that I didn't catch the neckline on the bias binding properly. Third blue dress of the month...who am I? This is the @staystitchpatternco Lola Tank. I love this pattern so much, I had to finally try the dress type! I struggled grading between sizes from my bust to hip measurements and ended up having to reshape/take it in after sewing the side seams. As much as stretch can be forgiving, this proved quite difficult with this fabric. I planned this as a set with the @papercutpattern array top. I added cuffs rather than elastic on the wrists. After doing a poll between a turtle or scoop neck resulting in an almost 50:50 split, I decided on the scoop neck hack as I realised that the fabric was more likely too soft for a turtle neck. I thrifted this fun blue stripe stretch knit from @thesewinglair a few months ago. In hindsight I will avoid this type fabric in the future as I am unsure what it is made of but it very easily warps when stretched too much - perhaps this may correct when washed? It was a fun experimental piece nevertheless and I have gotten two wears out of it already. I would love to make a comfy grey loungewear set eventually 🙏 #lolatank #arraytop

Hooray for the Array! Feel very late when it comes to the padded shoulder trend, but I'm glad I finally decided to do something with it 💁🏼‍♀️ I figured you can make a padded shoulder top with any dropped shoulder pattern from your stash, so I took my beloved Array pattern, left the sleeves, finished the armhole with a regular hem and folded it back inside with a shoulder pad inbetween. I’ve been playing around with bringing some #bigcuffenergy into my recent makes. These both feel a little too Shakespearean as is so I’m not sure whether they’ll make it out into the world. But, I really enjoyed learning some new techniques and kinda like where they are both going. Both use the #arraytop as a base. The white embroidered cotton was from a local op shop and I scored over three metres of it. I found the tiniest scrap of afternoon sunshine today to take some pics of my #arraytop pattern by @papercutpatterns. What a fantastic pattern, the instructions are so clear and easy to follow. I was aiming to make a wearable toile but I actually love this - it’s made from a 1970s table cloth I had in my stash 💙 The drape of this linen-ish fabric is perfect for the pattern. I made the size 5, but I think next time I’ll add 2 or 3 inches to the length and to the sleeve (L😍VE the sleeves!).
