My latest make is a #stackerjacket by @papercutpatterns patterns and I really like how it turned out. Jackets are quite an involved make but with papercut patterns instructions it was a simple step by step process. The exterior fabric is a cotton drill from @darncheapfabrics and the interior fabric is a beautiful cotton lawn from @patternscissorsfrock I made a straight size 4. My measurements are 38”Bust, 33” Waist and 44” Hip. The only alterations I made was to shorter it by 2” (I’m 5ft 4”) and I also shortened the arms by 2” based off the finished measurements. I wouldn’t shorten the arms again next time as they are a little short. Once I had sewn the whole thing together I then decided I didn’t like the amount of ease in the sleeve cap, when I sewed it in I thought it was strange there was so much ease in a dropped shoulder but I ignored my instinct. So after much deliberation I un picked the sleeve head on my outer fabric and moved it up slightly to flatten the curve and remove some of the ease. I was worried, as I thought it might affect the sleeve length, but it worked fine and removed the gathered look which I was not a fan of. It is the perfect size for lightweight T-shirts and polo necks to go underneath but I think it would be a bit of a tight fit with anything bulkier. I love this photo as I am wearing 100% #memade which doesn’t happen very often. A new @papercutpatterns Stacker jacket. I actually made it months ago but only just got around to doing the button holes. I used a lovely camel coloured wool coating. I have a green version of this jacket in boiled wool and wear it all the time. It’s perfect for autumn weather so decided to make one in a neutral colour. This Stacker Jacket was not part of my sewing plan at all last week until a chance conversation changed all of that. I had exactly 1 metre of wool I picked up at an op shop maybe 10 years ago. I even think I may have laid out this pattern on the fabric at some point and discarded the idea but I am here to say yes I can get a Stacker Jacket out of 1 metre; admittedly I am only 160cm tall! To do it I used some left over black suiting for the under collar , cut the collar in two pieces, put a false hem on the sleeves and pieced the under flap pieces but I did it! Best of all, all the teal and pink in the wool is picked up in the lining which was also a remnant. The buttons and interfacing were left over from other projects making this jacket just about free.

I’m so rubbish at posting makes these days, so I’ll be sharing quite a few over Xmas now I have some time off 🥳 This is my Stacker Jacket by @papercutpatterns which I made in jumbo cord from @newcrafthouse in the summer. I love this pattern and it has already been worn loads as it’s boxy shape makes it comfy over layers too. Don’t look to closely at the buttons/buttonholes as I had a NIGHTMARE with them and almost threw the whole thing in the bin (does anyone else threaten this often?) I went on a Facebook chat to ask for advice about buttonholes and was advised by one lady that my buttons were too near the edge. Yes, they probably are but actually I can live with that (I can’t bear to start tinkering with it!) and so I my next version I will rectify this and use poppers with buttons over the top! It’s ‘Recycle Repurpose’ Day 4 of the #fridaysewtacular by @fridaypatterncompany & this is the #stackerjacket by @papercutpatterns & one of most worn makes & therefore my most successful recycled project. In another sewing life it was a dress I self drafted from a RTW brand & the Drop Sleeve Top ( see cutting board photo) before that it was a more smock style dress I copied from another RTW brand ( seeing a trend here). So it’s had a total of 4 lives. Not surprisingly I tired of the RTW knock offs quickly, but not of this gorgeous red wide wale corduroy. By the time I cut it out for the stacker jacket the cord was soft as butter from its previous garments. I love it, I love what it’s become & it finally feels like the garment & fabric have found each other. #sewover50 #papercutstacker

I made this #stackerjacket by @papercutpatterns last winter and it’s taken me some time to get pics. This was my very first jacket, first time doing button holes and lining. I was so surprised how it all came together. I’ll make this again and lengthen the sleeves and body slightly. I really love some of the corduroy versions on insta. Aaaand done. Overall I’m really happy with my lengthened #stackerjacket. My only real regret is the fusible interfacing I used. It’s just too stiff for this fabric & pattern. Next time I make a coat I’ll use a woven interfacing in a lighter weight. The pattern is @papercutpatterns Stacker with the following mods: lengthened it to hit just above my knee. The original pattern is high hip length it nips in a bit from bust to the bottom edge. I made mine slightly a-line to accommodate my hips and allow room for a nice big stride when I walk (I’m a New Yorker so I walk a lot). I did a full bicep adjustment so there’s plenty of room for woolly sweaters like the one I’m wearing here. And since it’s a longer coat I moved the pockets from the chest to the hip. The outer fabric is from @mulberrysilks, the lining is from @fabscrap (swipe to see me flashing the lining), and the buttons are from Dusty’s Vintage Buttons.

Eine neue Jacke musste her. Eigentlich wollte ich einen anderen Stoff vernähen, konnte mich aber mit keiner Stoff/Schnittmuster-Kombi anfreunden. Als ich dann was ganz anderes in meinem Stoffschrank gesucht hab, ist mir dieser Jacquard wieder in die Finger geraten - ein Deadstock-Designer-Stöffchen, gekauft vor über einem Jahr bei @thefabricsales Da hatte ich eine bestimmte Form vor Augen und bin mit der Stacker Jacket bei @papercutpatterns fündig geworden. Ein für mich ungewohnter Schnitt, aber ich mag ihn grad sehr! Damit die Jacke auch etwas kühlere Temperaturen mitmacht, hab ich sie mit einem dünnen Volumenvlies gefüttert. Futterstoff hatte ich auch noch im Schrank, sollte eigentlich letztes Jahr für einen Wintermantel verarbeitet werden.
