We are still busy travelling around India. Yesterday we had a packed day in Madurai. We started in the flower market - Yves St Laurent described it as the “Bank of Perfume”. It was crowded, colorful and definitely perfumed. Then on to the Tirumalai Nayak Palace and the Meenakshi Amman Temple ( no photos allowed in the Temple). So if you are going to do this blouse ; READ and FOLLOW the INSTRUCTIONS! 🤍Fit and alterations; I choose size 12 D- cup in view A based on my measurements . I skipped the pocket since I made this blouse out of a small remnat piece. I also made it sleeveless cause it looked like it wanted to be when I came that far. I just added french binding ( like in deer and does hysope top) . There is a hack at @helens__closet which do it bit different for better fit so will try that later but I think I am close enough with this one. 🤍Materials Approximately 1,25 ,x m 140cm wide of white linen . Pattern said 1,8 for size 12 . Sleeveless saves 20 cm so maybe 1 meter will be enough for the next one? Perfect pattern for lovely expensive fabrics like liberty that you don’t want to buy a lot of. Some Disney pants for a Donald obsessed 3 year old! These are the Papercute Tula pants and I think they might be my new fave kids pants pattern. I made the wide leg option, altering the pattern slightly so I didn't have to do a fake fly. They are super generous in length, I hemmed these up 3in which is amazing as Delilah has grown an inch in like 2 months, so I can let them out later on if she needs! I can’t resist a good matching set. I was gifted this amazing Minerva exclusive cotton sateen. I stuck to two of my tried and true patterns, the Fibre Mood Aila shirt and Papercut Tula shorts. It’s so nice and relaxing to sew patterns you’ve made before. I should really do it more often. Aila is a size XS and the Tula is a modified size 2. After completing my set I had enough fabric left to test out the Pattern Emporium Field of Dreams crop top. This is the size 6 with high neck and narrow straps. It’s a fully lined top and I used self fabric for the lining. I can’t decide which outfit I like best. Since I’m about to embark on the journey to find the perfect pull-on pant/short pattern (see highlights) and make a gazillion pairs of shorts, I thought I’d revisit the only ones I’ve ever made! Both of these are the @papercutpatterns Tula pants, the cream ones were my first iteration and the blue my second. I made these two years ago now, so I have no idea the sizes or all the mods I made. I know I decreased the rise on the second pair which is pretty clear. I may have even sized down. My funny pose in the last picture is intended to show all the extra fabric that is around my tummy on that pair. I’ve gotten some great suggestions for adjustments to try in my next iteration of this pattern. The blue pair isn’t awful, I think the rise is a bit too low and they also seem to ride up (after sitting I constantly yank them down by the hem) but I can’t really tell if they are riding up from the front or the back. Regardless, I wore them all day yesterday and was anxious to get them off by the end of it, so something needs to change! The cream pair is just way too ill-fitting for me to feel comfortable wearing them. I love the shape of them and they will be so used! So easy to do as well. I added a small hack; backpockets! Since I already made tulashorts I tested the placement of the pockets on them and then measured and transferred it to the backpieces of the pants before mounting them together. #sybingo22 / summersewingbingo with @alstra.studio . With this make I cross of the square hacka ett mönster /hack a pattern 😀 ☀️▫️Fit and alterations; Made the pants 5 cm longer because of my height to start with but found that it I liked them as long as possible so they ended up being 7 cm longer. Crotch; I learned from Palisade that I had to dig out the crotch for my bum quite a bit so I did the same alteration on Tula which is dug down to the line for size 3 in the pattern. I also increased the crotch length to size 7. Just finished up these pants and oh my they are sooooo comfy! I had this linen and pattern ready in my todo pile for so long, and now they are made up I never want to take them off! Luxe Loungewear 🙋‍♀️ it’s only taken almost a year for me to fully embrace dressing down and finally joined the loungewear sewing party! . And I’ll admit, this whole outfit was a very deliberate choice. When I seen the images of the new @papercutpatterns patterns collections there was an image of the new Tula pants and Solar top made in a beaut grey fabric and I knew I needed that combo in my life and et voilà, here’s my version. Fabric is a mid weight jersey from @good_fabric_store which I thought might have been a little heavier, so it’s possibly just a bit light for the bottoms but perfect for the top. Having said that, they are possibly the most comfortable thing I’ve ever made. I might not be able to wear them out the house as I’d hoped but really what does that matter these days 😂 . I made 2 pairs of @papercutpatterns #tulashorts for my holiday this year. They are the perfect elasticated waist shorts with a faux fly and in seam pockets. This first pair is made from gingham double gauze from @fabricgodmother which is lovely to wear in the heat. I used the bigger check side for the body of the shorts and the smaller check for the waistband and pockets. I decided against the optional drawstring for this pair. I made a straight size 3 which was perfect. The fabric was left over from 2 dresses I made for my granddaughters.
