A @papercutpatterns #remyshirt This was my first time putting a heavy weight denim through my new machine, which is just a little Janome home sewer, so I used a lighter weight (and darker) denim for facings in the yoke, collar, and cuffs to reduce bulk. I didn’t stop to think about how this darker denim bleeds and will now rub against my clothing, lol. I sized down one size from the chart after reading the finished garment measurements and this shirt still came out enormous! This is why ppl make toiles first. 🫠 Kudos to Papercut for having really great instructions. I am a beginner and this was my first time doing a proper cuff and the whole process felt really easy, to my delight. I will definitely use this pattern again, and size down just one more time. I will also mark out where I want my topstitching lines to be so they come out less sloppy. 💙🩵

Part of putting together monthly themes over here at Needle Sharp is paying attention to trends in the sewing community. Sometimes, these are subtle and fun to parse out. Another @papercutpatterns #remyshirt ☺️ This time assembled it with a heavy weight denim that I got at Joann’s (I like the Lucky Brand denim selection there) along with a pretty textured floral @hokkoh_tokyo fabric and fun orange buttons that I bought at fav shop @boltfabricpdx. I shortened the sleeves by an inch this time around and added some subtle darts at the neckline on the front bodice. It was a weird move, but there was just a lot of extra, floating fabric at the front of the shirt near the neckline when I wore it the first time, so I took off the collar, sewed some darts, and made a new collar to accommodate a reduced circumference in the neckline. There is probably a better way to reduce bulk in the neck/upper chest area but I’m a beginner so I just winged it. I’m really pleased with the results! #papercutpatterns #nobodyknowsimsewing

I was veeeeery excited when I first saw this new pattern from @papercutpatterns and bought it almost straight away. It ticked nearly all my ‘classic oversized shirt sewing pattern’ boxes that I’ve been wanting to get for a while PLUS one massive extra box, which was an interesting short sleeved option. Since it is summer on this side of the globe, I decided to start with the short sleeve version. The pattern is the new Remy shirt, made in a size 4. This gorgeous striped floral vintage cotton/?/poly mix lawn which was gifted to me from @made_by_cr and was originally owned by her Gran, so I really wanted to do it justice. It’s a tad see-through so those pockets are doing two jobs!
