I'm finally getting around to documenting more of my makes! This outfit was slowly cobbled together over the last year. 👖@fridaypatterncompany #ramblerpants made in a teal twill with bright red top stitching. I didn't mod this pattern at all, though I think they may now be a size smaller than my measurements. They fit great and are very comfortable. I wear them alllll the time at work because they have a ton of roomy pockets. 👕#butanobuttonup made in a shirting fabric with pearl snaps instead of buttons. I have kind of odd proportions so I went off my hip measurements and removed the bust darts. It generally fits well & I really like the collar shape & all the fun little details within the design. 🦺@newcrafthouse #everydaywaistcoat made in scraps from the other two pieces. I heavily modded it--making the size to my measurements, but taking it in at the side seams because I found it was too oversized for my needs. Instead of binding the raw edges with bias tape I made a lining with facings & used a method that hides all my raw edges. Xoxo kag

Clothes for Christmas! Sewed up another pair of @fridaypatterncompany #ramblerpants for Mike's Christmas present. Then Nanna accidentally bought the kids outfits to match. Mike wore his most of the festive season. I left out the button holes in the back waistband and reduced the size of the front ones to create a drawstring trouser. I also took 10cm off the length. When I saw the @fridaypatterncompany #ramblerpants and the modifications to fit my more curvy figure, I couldn’t wait to try out the pattern. I love that it is a more “work-pants” style with side pocket details, a built-in webbed belt, and an opportunity for all the top stitching details that make “homemade” level up to “handmade”. For my pair, I shortened the leg in two places because the original pattern is drafted for someone 5’10”. I also shorted the rise as explain on the Friday Pattern Company blog for the pattern. The pockets are large so I don’t have to worry about my phone fitting in them or falling out. The fabric is a 270gsm stretch cotton poplin from @califabrics which has plenty of stretch for comfort but also a lot of structure like you find in ready-made work style pants. I will definitely make another pair in the future. A full me made outfit! ✨ This shirt was my first stretchy fabric project (and maybe my last?? Lmao) 🙃 My top is a Jackson tee made with a cotton spandex jersey knit. I actually took a class to make this shirt and unfortunately the teaching style ended up stressing me outtttt 😩 when I went to finish hemming the shirt at home, my machine did not want to cooperate. I think I tried like 3 different kinds of needles and tried a bunch of different length & width combos for the zigzag stitch but it just kept skipping stitches!! Idk what was going wrong. The pattern itself was great though! Easy to read instructions and I love the fit of the shirt. For my fellow sewists - is this typically a finicky fabric? Did I choose wrong for my first go at knits? Getting into the holiday mood this week! 🎄 1-2. Hand-quilted vest for my mother-in-law. I used double cotton batting for extra thickness and warmth, soft navy linen for the main fabric, and cotton fleece for the binding. Finished it off with hand-stitched quilting. 🪡 pattern : @luisa.patterns
