It is my pleasure to introduce my new #eddycardiganblazer, a pattern recently released by @fridaypatterncompany. I was on board with this pattern immediately bc my closet has been missing a jacket type situation that doesn’t completely cover up what I’m wearing underneath. I decided to have faith in the pattern for once and cut out a size S without any toiling and practicing, and I made no subsequent mods! Feels a little restrictive in my shoulders but I like the silhouette overall. I’m also super in love with this light wash 13 oz denim and this block print, both from @blackbirdfabrics, and already have plans to make more stuff with both of them lol. I found the sew along video to be a life saver for getting through the back vent! The techniques are pretty advanced (for me) but the video complements the instructions very well and suddenly I had a fully lined blazer. Added a cool circa 2025 label from @kylieandthemachine bc I expect this one to be around for years to come :) Wearing here w Pomona pants as per usual and my #b6901 vest + #regaliablouse sleeves mashup.

✨The Eddy Blazer Cardigan✨ The newest pattern by @fridaypatterncompany is here! ✨ I had the privilege of being a tester* and I think y’all are gonna love this one. 😍 The pattern // The #EddyCardiganBlazer is a fully lined collarless blazer that features contour darts (also called double pointed darts) in the front and back bodice, a back vent, front patch pockets and one front button as the closure. The sizing // The Eddy fits up to 60” chest and 63” hips. It has a relaxed fit with a hem that’s designed to fall just below the butt. It’s graded for a B-Cup and height of 5’6”. FPC has provided a link in the instructions for written details on how to do common fit adjustments on the Eddy, including small shoulder adjustment, full bust adjustment and blending between sizes. 🔑 My make & thoughts // My test pictured above was made in Size 3X (my usual FPC size.) The only mod I made was to shorten the sleeves 1”. I’m only 5’4” but I left the full length of the bodice as drafted. For the main, I used a trippy check 100% cotton twill and the lining I used a grunge floral rayon challis, both stash fabrics I purchased from @blackbirdfabrics at some point. 👌🏼 In hindsight, I wouldn’t use rayon challis again as a lining because it had a bit too fluid of a drape so it sags a bit paired with the twill (but it’s not really noticeable.) A Bemberg cupro lining would probably be my top choice next time! 👌🏼 Anyway, I am so so pleased with how this blazer came out. I am not used to wearing outerwear garments with waist shaping like this, but I was pleasantly surprised with the fit and feel of it. I’ve sewn both the #heatherblazer and the new #eddycardiganblazer by @fridaypatterncompany to compare how they work for me and my body shape. I actually ended up really loving both for different reasons. I really like the shaping in the Eddy and also the curved front and pockets and vent detail. I also like the minimalism of no collar. The Heather is definitely boxier, possibly too boxy on me so I plan to sew another one with some shaping a la Eddy…. Size wise, the Heather is a Small with 2 inches taken off the length and the Eddy is a Medium. I did a narrow shoulder adjustment on both of them. 💖🎀🩷🌸 Power dressing and dopamine dressing in one blazer. The Eddy Cardigan Blazer is here and you are going to want to make this pattern, just trust me on it. It was a real pinch myself moment when I was asked if I wanted to test the blazer, @fridaypatterncompany was one of the first indie pattern companies I remember using thanks to a year long challenge called Sew My Style. However, I am here to talk about this pattern. I made my blazer over the Christmas break and given how hot it is here I knew I needed to make my blazer in something I could wear. So bright pink linen from the stash (this linen was originally purchased to become a heather blazer just hasn’t gotten around to make it so it seems fitting it became the newest blazer pattern). Lined blazer, collarless finish and a lined vent might seem a little overwhelming to make but the instructions and the diagrams make each step very achievable. It was a great project for my mini break as I was able to take my time and trust the process. That said I was surprised at how quickly my blazer did come together for me even with a moment of user error where I had pre-pressed my hem the wrong length. I embraced the power suit and slight 80s vibes of my blazer and used one of my mum’s old army uniform buttons. It’s the perfect pop of gold. I am honestly so happy with how this blazer turned out. While this was a paid test my views are completely my own and honest. Outfit reveal for our friends wedding in San Francisco over last weekend! Last month's @sewhayleyjane make was an absolute beauty... I joined with the Thready Set Go pattern club and made the @fridaypatterncompany Eddy Blazer in the most beautiful cotton sateen, and it's become my go-to jazzy outwear piece! I have to admit I did struggle in places when making this, it's fully lined (of which I used a cupro, possibly not the easiest fabric to work with!) This is a really great skill building pattern- it was my first time fully lining a garment and sewing a back vent! This is a size XL with 2" added to the front/back bodice and 1 1/2" to the sleeves. I used a thrifted wool tweed which took a bit of extra time to press due to the thickness of the material but I think it worked perfectly I'm wearing it with the #serenascarf by @rust_knitwear made by my friend @annamostlyknits We did a lovely little trade and I've already gotten a ton of use out of it! Quick post to show off some of the little details and finishing touches that make my new Eddy Cardigan Blazer special. Fun lining, big gold button and some fun labels. Lining was Liberty cotton poplin I purchased at the Fabric Store Liberty sale know this project was coming up. I thought picking a button was going to be difficult and then I remembered I had some of my parents old army buttons in my stash which is were this one came from. Someone in my family asked me if I was going to make a matching pair of trousers and do a real Jessie from Toy Story. The answer is no, but only because I don't have enough fabric left! 🎉Welcome to the #EddycardiganBlazer!🎉 A brand new pattern from @fridaypatterncompany and my first make of 2025. I was thrilled to be a tester for this great piece, and phew, what a make. I'm not gonna lie, there are some challenging steps to this, but come on, it's a fully-lined, collarless jacket with a back vent. It has a relaxed, over-sized casual feel to it. Suitable for making up in a woven fabric that presses well. I chose to make mine from this crazy cow print denim from @rainbowfabrickilburn. Saundra Skirt x Sacai (sort of) This is a slightly reimagined version of the #saundraskirt by @hisydgraham. I’m a fan of the Japanese label Sacai and wanted to to inject some utilitarian vibes into this awesomely flouncy skirt. Swipe to the end for ref image. Pattern: My version includes godets but no lining. I added pin tucks to each panel, faux flat felled seams and cargo pockets from the #lanepants, omitting the pattern’s inseam pockets. I also added a 4cm separate waistband to hold the weight of these additions. Sacai: I absolutely love the skirt but could lean into the army vibe a bit more by adding rivets, a few more little pockets and belt loops. Size: I cut a size 6 which is 2 sizes down from what’s recommended based on@my hip measurements. But can still easily pull the waistband over my hips (I’ll write up my theories on elastic waistbands and hip-to-waist ratios in a separate post!) Fabric: missmaude ‘s everyday cotton drill in fern green made for a satisfying sew. I truly enjoyed every seam. I worried about creasing, but looking at the pics I think it’s working okay. Worn with: @myfavouritethings.knitwear #vestno9 in @darkharbouryarn port merino + some random mohair and the #eddycardiganblazer (I’ve got lots of notes on that one - more to come!)

Me in my new #eddycardiganblazer by @fridaypatterncompany made on the fabulous sewing retreat with these gorgeous girlies! What a treat to just be able to sew all weekend with lovely friends, being fed amazing food and walking in the stunning Peak District 💚. I’m planning a vlog comparing this fitted blazer with the more relaxed Heather Blazer when I actually manage to make the Heather Blazer 😂. A slight lack of concentration had me pressing up the seams to 1.5 cm instead of inches which got me into a world of trouble later on with the lined vent etc 🤦‍♀️. So if you make this lovely jacket, bear that in mind and use the helpful sew along and you’ll be fine - the vent was definitely a new challenge for me and I persevered and love the result 🥰. I especially love the shaping of the blazer, the darts are 👌🏼. This is a size M with a narrow shoulder adjustment. I used a lightweight twill from rainbow fabrics and some satin lining from Birmingham Rag Market. Really happy with it overall and looking forward to making the Heather Blazer and perhaps trying to combine the two… 🤔 💚.

It’s have thorough instructions for the back vent and I like the shaping in the body!! My measurements put me in between sm and med for bust, med for waist and L for hips. I made a medium and graded to a large for only the back pieces in the hips. I want to tweak the fit a little bit more the next time I make it.
