Welcome to an old story: the Lola Top. 😁 I started with this project two years ago, after harvesting this yarn from an abandoned project. I swatched and swatched again and I started in good faith, but I ended up frogging again because it was way to small. I still wanted exactly these stripes with exactly this colours so badly! 😥 I started all over again a few months ago and hopes are high for my beautiful yarn to finally get its chance to shine. 😄 I altered the pattern a lot 🙈. Instead of working it top down in the round I'll do it bottom up and working flat. So far it works better for me. Fail-Friday: Das Lola-Top 🙈 Eigentlich ist es so simpel und schnell gestrickt – dachte ich mir zumindest! Nach dem ersten Yarn-Shopping in Berlin habe ich das Top voller Vorfreude noch am selben Abend angeschlagen. Vielleicht ein bisschen zu vorfreudig und voreilig denn nach einigen Reihen: falsche Nadelstärke für das Bündchen, also alles wieder auf. Versuch zwei: Falsche Maschenzahl angeschlagen. Seriously?! Nochmal von vorne. Versuch drei lief endlich – bis ich zur Rückseite kam und gemerkt habe, dass ich schon wieder mit der falschen Nadelstärke angefangen hatte 🤦🏻‍♀️ ich konnte irgendwann gar nicht mehr glauben, dass ich andauernd wegen solchen Fehlern auftrennen muss 😅 Am Ende war es trotzdem ein schnelles Projekt, das nach einer Woche fertig war. Und es könnte tatsächlich eins meiner Sommer-Lieblingsteile werden! Aaah knitting at the beach, my absolute favorite place in the whole world to be knitting 🥰🧶🌊 This was Edvin’s first time dipping his toes in the ocean, and after some careful assesment of the sea, he absolutely loved it (so much so that he fell in and got his swimsuit and sun hat totally soaked… he didn’t find that so amusing 😂). Some candid shots from another very hot day in Lyon for the first outing of my new linen #lolatop from @forgetmenotpatterns 🪡 The orange linen fabric is the scrap from a jacket project back in May and with about 80cm left, I had to cut this out on the cross grain to make it possible. This is such a useful top for scraps and I’ve previously colour blocked with a different fabric for the back yoke. This time I’ve done some very freehand appliqué on the back yoke using some tiny linen scraps for a concentric heart design.
