I have a new dress!! 🥳🎉🎉
Here’s my finished @dressmakingamore Lucy dress.
The pattern is verrrry generous and boxy. It’s essentially made out of rectangles. I took it in a good 2 inches at the waist, tapering it down from the arm pit to the waist. That gave me a bit more definition that I think suits me better. I considered adding ties to tie it back at the waist but decided to hold off on that for now. I might add them later, we’ll see!
I made the longer view, because the mini dress version seemed too short to suit my mom life. (Why is it that kiddos think dresses are tents to play under?!! 🤪) Anyways, I ended up shortening it to just above the knee. Also, something about the proportion of the tiers seemed off on me at first, so I ended up taking the length off the top tier only so that it would be shorter than the bottom one. Viola! I’m so smitten with it now.
I had to make quite a few adjustments, but there’s a lot of wiggle room to work with in this pattern. I’m so pleased with how it turned out! 👗🥰
And, can we talk about this beautiful cotton voile fabric from @corefabrics ! It stole my ❤️and got me out of my neutral sewing streak.
