~ Pattern Tester Post ~ I’m sure most of you have seen the beautiful #willowdress from @cinnamondaisystudio and now Emma has done it again with the amazing #fearneboxtop . I was lucky to be part of the tester team and had the best time trying the different version of this pattern. It is sooooo versatile and can be made with both vowens and knit fabrics. Here I made one in a heavy knit fabric, with long sleeves, cuffs, waistband and buttons. And let me tell you - it is one of my staple pieces right now! It is the perfect lenght to use over a dress! I’m so in love with this one and really want to make some more. This is the sleeveless, short version, sewn up in a special soft double gauze from Japanese designer Nani Iro @naniiro_textile. The Willow Dress 💕 by @cinnamondaisystudio made from a cotton bed sheet rescued from my sister’s move. Possibly the neatest stitching I’ve managed so far. This is my first @cinnamondaisy #willowdress, I actually finished back in May as part of the @curvy_coven_uk but I never got around to posting any photos. It was a great pattern, and like many others I plan to make many many more. No zips, no buttons, just throw over your head, tie the waist band and done. I love the space it has for my "mum tum" and the sleeves, mean no worrying about my arms. I also burn easily so it provides me with enough cover-up to limit the amount of sticky suncream I have to lather on myself, without feeling like I am covered up. The #willowdress by @cinnamondaisystudio in the this super summery retro cotton fabric (it might quilting cotton?!? 😬) sourced from @fiveeighth …I LOVE this pattern! I did a toile of the top to check the fit and then made a few mods to suit the vibe of the fabric - notably to change the ties to these button tabs — the vintage buttons are from Fashion Fabrics here in Chs. Then I took the “v” out of the top and made it more of a scoop (I went up 1” from the original point of the v). Then I slashed and spread the skirt pieces (front and back) to make it as a-line as I could get it. Annnnd of course I sewed everything with french seams, made a bias-bound facing, and bias bound the top of the skirt to hide the gathering. I don’t have a serger and I also just love fancy finishes on the insides! I’m already scheming to make another mini version. Maybe with the tabs again but in a solid fabric this time? Decisions… #sewthewillow
