Another day wearing mainly me-mades and trying to up my workwear game by maximising my wardrobe. I resorted to jeans but it complement the almost all blue theme of the day so was acceptable. Next up in my postpartum sewing is the #lahjarobe from @namedclothing made in gingham washed linen from @blackbirdfabrics My only other robe/housecoat is fleece and really only wearable in the dead of Alberta winters, so I knew I wanted to make a light linen robe for summer. I wear it almost every morning now! Again, super practical for mornings nursing a newborn and as a bonus can be wrapped around baby during couch snuggles. The pattern is very easy to make and fits well according to my measurements. I had a decent amount leftover so made an extra pair of #agnespjs (shorts only) from @paper_theory #postpartumsewing

I made this set of #agnespjs last Sept, and ever since, it has been a constant rotation in my closet. You can find me lounging in this, in the weekend, being a potato. Day 26 😬 Quite close to not making a post today … there’s clothes there to wear just don’t need to wear them today! So for documentary purposes and in the interests of seeing this through … here are my @paper_theory #agnespjs which are about to go on for early bed 🥱 My first pair of these actually fell apart after much wear - it’s a perfect pj pattern with grown on sleeves and easy fit. Two tone quilted Agnes Jacket I made this super thick quilted jacket back in February using the top from the @paper_theory #AgnesPjs pattern. The outer brown wool fabric was a small, odd shaped remnant thrifted from a charity shop. Pattern Tetris was taken to a whole new level by ignoring grain lines completely (this wool was vintage and felted). There were only scraps enough to fill a pin cushion after cutting, which left me in a bit of a predicament re: patch pockets. A problem solved on the fly by using some other small scraps of black wool taking this into two tone territory. I made some patch pockets using the tiny amount of black wool I had left, but they felt a little too distracting to the eye. I added black wool inside the cuffs so they could be folded back and for the front facing to tie it all together. Finishing the entire jacket in black wool bias binding to complete. The lining is a mish mash of leftover gingham scraps and the wadding is, in hindsight, a bit too chonky and structured. I opted with a lighter weight for my Thompson Coat and preferred it. Overall a good experiment in maximising scraps and fabric leftovers. I’ll definitely use this pyjama pattern for another jacket, it’s such an effortlessly cool shape. I want to recreate the denim chore coat that Tara made using her same pattern - it must be such a staple! Still unsure of my solution for lack of pockets since I have no black or brown wool to use. Answers on a postcard please, but no rush because it won’t be worn until we get back to the colder months.

We’re in the dregs of autumn down here, but every now and then we still get a beautiful day. However I’m pretty sure this will be my last chance to wear this outfit before it’s full hibernation mode. It’s been my summer + autumn MVP. The top is the shirt from the #agnespjs. I hate fabric clinging to me when it’s hot (especially under the arms—no thanks), so the deep dolman sleeve is a dream. The shorts are a new pattern I’ve been perfecting and there have been a few changes since this iteration, but mostly just small fitting tweaks. Fabric is the Olive linen from @wearethefabricstore

There's not been a lot of sewing content from me here lately. Some of you will know that I'm awaiting surgery for a second shoulder replacement, which means that sewing has been difficult over the last few months. No full days of sewing at this point, just short sessions. And I've had to cancel a recent sewing retreat with @norwichsewcials which was rather disappointing. However, given that I'll have to be in a hospital for a couple of nights (based on the previous replacement), I thought I'd try making some cheerful pyjamas that would be easy to put on a post-op shoulder. This is a hybrid pair, using the @TillyButtons #sewingjaime for the bottom half (a #TnT pattern for me) and the @paper_theory #agnespjs top. The top has a very loose and generous area around the shoulder and underarm, which will make them easier to get in following surgery.To cheer myself, I made them in a rather loud @ladymcelroyfabrics called "On The Horizon", which ought to make sure they get me out of the hospital as quickly as possible. New Pjs 😴🛌🌜 My partner and I visited Malaysia 🇲🇾 in 2017, it was our first international trip together, I had just started sewing and brought some beautiful batik fabric 🌸🏵. I made these #agnespjs from @paper_theory a couple of years ago in this buttery soft linen from @merchantandmills called Jazz. The batwing shape means they are really comfy to sleep in. I found them a little short so this year took down the hem and added a facing giving them an extra 3 inches. I used french seams throughout which makes them soft for sleep. I also added a back patch pocket. The front ones on the shirt seem a little close together and are not that useful, but maybe give pj vibes. Me Made May Day 3: I woke up like this. I did wear me-made yesterday to chaperones prom, but I didn’t take a photo because I just didn’t. These are the @paper_theory Agnes PJs in indigo printed fabric from @itokri I made these a few years ago and LOVE THEM. The waistband is getting a bit worse for the wear but I think I’ll just sew some extra fabric on to the top edge when the time comes, because the rest of it is holding up just fine. What’s this? Actual sewing content on the grid! This photo doesn’t show my latest version of the @paper_theory #agnespjs particularly well but it’s as good as it’s going to get. This is pair number 4 I think, in linen from the great job warehouse fabric giveaway of 2024. I added some white piping and buttons ( opshop, shell) for some contrast. Not too much else to say, these are comfy, breathable, crumply and perfect for a Byron winter. If you were wondering about the slight colour difference between the top and bottoms, that’s because I finished the bottoms about 3 months ago, wore them, washed them a lot and then finished the top 😅. And I finished my #landerpants in silver denim from Fenners at Mona Vale - I used the selvedge to make the belt loops and some #kaffefassett patchwork fabric as the pocket lining. At first I didn’t really like the front pockets on the Landers I have seen, and was debating about a front pocketless version but now I 💜them for the vertical seam look they give. #memademay2025day12 In some ways, it’s easy to participate in Me Made May because I wear me-mades most days. The hard part is taking the pics and posting - time consuming on busy days. But I decided I’d post everyday since I don’t post often. I’ve posted more this May than the entire time I’ve had this maker’s account on IG. I made this shirt last fall. It’s a mix of two patterns, #alpharaglanhoodie and #basicinstinctshirt. I started off hand sewing it during camping trips, but figured out that the wool knit fabric was too thin for handstitching. It was also a little bit itchy, so I decided to underline it with a tencel knit fabric. Both fabrics are from at @surgefabricshop. The tencel is literally cool (temperature) feeling so it’s interesting to mix that with wool. It also adds a heftiness. I like it. My pants are #agnespjs by @paper_theory in a Milk Meet tencel fabric I bought at @fluidplusdrape. I buy tencel because the manufacturing of it has a lower environmental impact than rayon, bamboo, viscose and the like. And I like its hefty drape. #memademay #memademay2025

First on my list for Autumnal sewing - PJs.✨ I feel like I’ll be making many more versions of the @paper_theory Agnes set. This version is made up in a Paloma Block Print cotton poplin from @fabricgodmother and has a hint of stretch for extra comfort. I didn’t quite have enough fabric to cover the width of the patterns pieces, hence the selvage is visible on the front, but it still kind of works. 2 years ago I started making these lightweight cotton PJs for a trip to Bali. Yesterday I finished them 😅. I’ve been loving the postpartum sewing conversation from @peaceontheside so I decided to share the items I made before baby arrived! As this is my second baby, I already knew what would be most practical immediately with a newborn, so I focused mainly on lounge wear, knowing how much time is spent at home! I also had a summer baby this time around, compared to a winter baby with my first, so wanted to make super comfy light weight items. First up is the #agnespjs from @paper_theory made in double gauze from @corefabrics I bought this fabric almost a year ago to make these pjs and finally put it at top of the queue! I made them in size 14 based on my normal measurements, and now that I’m in them I realize I probably could have sized down 1 but also love an oversized fit on pjs. I wore these at the hospital and the first couple days at home, and again this morning! Lastly, almost all my postpartum makes feature the affirmation sewing tags my husband got me for Christmas and I absolutely love them! #memadewardrobe #postpartumsewing #yegsews

Wow-wee this silk charmeuse fabric is absolutely stunning 🤤 It feels incredibly smooth and light, it almost feels like you’re wearing nothing at all. I don’t think I’ll ever be able to go back to my old cotton tees. I’ve never sewn silk charmeuse before and was somewhat apprehensive about sewing with silk again, I was however pleasantly surprised that this fabric wasn’t as difficult to sew as I thought it might be. It does require a little extra care and I have some tips that helped in a blogpost @minervadotcom (link in bio) but I really don’t think was any harder than sewing rayon challis. The #agnespjs were an excellent pattern choice as it has minimal seams with only 5 pattern pieces ❤️ Minimising time spent on French seams, which I think are a must with this delicate fabric. Only mod was to do a baby hem on the shorts, as they are quite short already. This is my upmarket Grunge ‘Flannie’ it’s a perfect day to night ‘capsule piece’ because it’s really a pj top. Here I’ve sewn the #agnespjs by #papertheorypatterns . I used my circ 1982 Riccar sewing machine ( big 👋 to @sheilasewssporadically who also owned one in the 80s) as my newer machine was being serviced. This @robertkaufman print is called ‘Adventure’ and is both soft and heavy. I sewed this in a size 12 and used @thecrookedhem forward shoulder adjustment tutorial(thank you). After I finished it I decided to move the pockets further to the sides and down a bit ( personal preference ) which meant they don’t match ( one wasn’t going to anyway). I love the shape of this top, but if I wasn’t planning to wear it to bed I’d lower the front button and increase the V ( @the.social.fabric has an excellent post) . Tara Viggo the @paper_theory designer really nailed the instructions & I love her illustrations 😍. Very cool technique used to anchor the front facing 👍. I also added a couple of cm to the length . Agnes top fabric purchased from @maaidesign . Also wearing the Debra Zebra knit top in a @wearethefabricstore merino , it’s a cold #memademay2022 in Hobart today . On the blog: Agnes PJs in this dreamy laundered linen from Merchant and Mills. I blame @caro_made_this for planting the seed that ultimately led to me making my third pajama set this year. It will not be my last, either! Agnes is a lovely pattern with fantastic drafting from @paper_theory as always. There is also a great method for constructing the lapel break point that I will definitely be using for any lapel collar in the future. I thoroughly enjoyed the process of making these, and I think I prefer the Agnes over the Carolyn PJs for a variety of reasons. More details on the blog, link in my bio. Has anyone else thoroughly HATED a project from start to finish, yet somehow delighted with the final garment? I HATED the colour of this fabric as soon as it arrived. All I could think of when I looked at it was ‘pool table’ 🎱😂 It’s been sat in my stash for about two years, and felt like such a waste so I decided to sew it into some PJs/loungers so I wouldn’t mind TOO much about the colour. Who doesn’t love wearing cute pyjamas to bed? 🌷   Looking for a fun and easy pyjama sewing project? I think I have found my ‘go-to’ pyjama pattern.  The Agnes pyjamas from @PaperTheory are a super simple and quick make and are cute and comfy to lounge around in.   The fabric is so vibrant, pretty and fun and the Viscose Challis is soft and floaty – and in my opinion is perfect for PJs. I added some hot pink piping, hoping that the splash of brightly coloured piping would make the colours in the fabric “pop”. I think it has worked pretty well.
   I’m super happy with my PJs. I love how bright and fun they are. 💖

I subconsciously assumed that having time off work from burnout and other bullshit would feel positive. Restorative. The truth is it's felt like sick leave and though I am starting to feel more like myself (always a joy) I'm still mad and exhausted and unlearning stress. Thankfully, I have cool friends who enable my hobbies - thank you @paper_theory for the pajamas pattern. I made it in emerald linen (my favourite colour) from @mindthemaker and added buttons I bought at the @museumoflondon about ten years ago. They are comfy AF and the linen is a dreeeeam to sleep in. I have a new summer ensemble! 😎🌴 I found some RTW inspiration – a shirt and shorts set in double gauze fabric OK, so I may not be as youthful or petite as the model in the photo, but I'm pretty happy with my own creation. 🌺   The fabric is a Double Gauze, and oh my, it's soft, comfy, and utterly gorgeous. Sewing with it was a bit of an adventure. The shorts I used my standard sewing foot, but it stretched the fabric while stitching. So, for the shirt, I opted to use my walking foot, which worked wonders in preventing excessive stretching.   For the shirt I used the Paper Theory Agnes PJs pattern. I added about 12cm to its length, although I foolishly forgot to adjust the pattern for my curvier hips. I ended up sewing side slits at the hemline, which gave me a bit more room!   For the shorts, I wanted pockets (which the Agnes pattern doesn’t have), so I used the Pattern Emporium Vacation Vibes Palazzo Pants Short Version. Looking at the pictures now, I probably could have made the shorts a tad longer, but no worries. They'll still be OK for beachwear, and if I don’t feel confident in them, they might become my new favourite pair of comfy PJs!   Final thoughts? I love this fabric. Its softness and cozy feel is gorgeous. Using the walking foot made a world of difference, and I'll definitely use it again for sewing double gauze.   As for the outfit, I'm quite pleased with my shirt and shorts set, although I have a feeling it might have a more youthful vibe (especially the shorts). And if by any chance they don't feel quite right (well, mainly the shorts), they’ll have a fantastic second life as my go-to PJs. Terrible artificial lighting but I’m still looking pleased with myself as this is the comfiest pj/loungewear set I’ve ever had! I found both of these fabrics when I went to the Christmas shopping event at @guthrieghani and instantly pictured this set. The checked flannel is so soft, and the viscose blended knit makes a really cosy top. The bottoms are from the Agnes Pyjama Set- I added 4” to the leg length and 2” to the rise and they are super comfy. They are lovely and high waisted, and a perfect length. My Agnes Pjs finished in time to take away next week for a reunion with nursing friends and colleagues. It’s 50 years since I began my nurse training at Withington Hospital in Manchester. 6 of us are in regular contact and we have booked a two night stay in Bath to celebrate. Me Made May Day 3: I woke up like this. I did wear me-made yesterday to chaperones prom, but I didn’t take a photo because I just didn’t. These are the @paper_theory Agnes PJs in indigo printed fabric from @itokri I made these a few years ago and LOVE THEM. The waistband is getting a bit worse for the wear but I think I’ll just sew some extra fabric on to the top edge when the time comes, because the rest of it is holding up just fine. This version is made up in a Paloma Block Print cotton poplin from @fabricgodmother and has a hint of stretch for extra comfort. I didn’t quite have enough fabric to cover the width of the patterns pieces, hence the selvage is visible on the front, but it still kind of works. How cute is this rainbow double gauze? First time sewing with this type of material and it was surprisingly okay. Also first time using this pattern which is the Agnes by Paper Theory. I subconsciously assumed that having time off work from burnout and other bullshit would feel positive. Restorative. The truth is it's felt like sick leave and though I am starting to feel more like myself (always a joy) I'm still mad and exhausted and unlearning stress. Thankfully, I have cool friends who enable my hobbies - thank you @paper_theory for the pajamas pattern. I made it in emerald linen (my favourite colour) from @mindthemaker and added buttons I bought at the @museumoflondon about ten years ago. They are comfy AF and the linen is a dreeeeam to sleep in. This shirt has been a work in progress for months and it’s finally finished - and I’m so pleased with it. It’s a @paper_theory Agnes pyjama top made in a blemished @fabricgodmother remnant from @guthrieghani which has been stashed for over a year. I love the grown on sleeves, it’s a different look for me but one which will get a lot of wear. Wow-wee this silk charmeuse fabric is absolutely stunning 🤤 It feels incredibly smooth and light, it almost feels like you’re wearing nothing at all. I don’t think I’ll ever be able to go back to my old cotton tees. I’ve never sewn silk charmeuse before and was somewhat apprehensive about sewing with silk again, I was however pleasantly surprised that this fabric wasn’t as difficult to sew as I thought it might be. It does require a little extra care and I have some tips that helped in a blogpost @minervadotcom (link in bio) but I really don’t think was any harder than sewing rayon challis. The #agnespjs were an excellent pattern choice as it has minimal seams with only 5 pattern pieces ❤️ Minimising time spent on French seams, which I think are a must with this delicate fabric. Only mod was to do a baby hem on the shorts, as they are quite short already. Has anyone else thoroughly HATED a project from start to finish, yet somehow delighted with the final garment? I HATED the colour of this fabric as soon as it arrived. All I could think of when I looked at it was ‘pool table’ 🎱😂 It’s been sat in my stash for about two years, and felt like such a waste so I decided to sew it into some PJs/loungers so I wouldn’t mind TOO much about the colour. The basic white shirt I've been waiting for all my life ▫️▫️▫️ This is my second collared shirt - I cowered away from a collar/lapel situation for a long time and I'm so glad I gave it a shot as I love the classic fit it creates. I used the @paper_theory Agnes Pjs top pattern for this shirt. I squared the collar and lowered the lapel break and shortened it to a crop. Along with 3 neutral buttons I found at @sckafsfabrics I was just playing with this white poplin but I would love to get a more lux feeling light weight to make this one again. I need a few colours now...and by colours I mean shades of neutral ahah (no I will try pick up a colour 🤞)

I finally got around to pressing my linen #agnespjs shirt by @paper_theory. I took inspiration from Nisan's @the.social.fabric modifications to this pattern - squaring the collar and lowering the lapel break. No other alterations however I may look at shortening the sleeves. I had been avoiding anything involving a collar for a while but I finally took the leap and I'm pretty pleased for a first attempt. I also decided to use French seams which was another first! Played some serious tetris getting this one to fit on some scrap linen and I am so happy it worked out because I love the colour for this shirt 🙏 I have been on the mend the past week from stepping my foot through a rusted nail but I was able to sew on my buttons in the hospital waiting room so I suppose every cloud does have a silver lining...as fine as that may be 😅 I'll post some more pics with it worn once I am a bit more mobile ✌
