I never got a chance to share my absolute favorite make of 2024! my dear friend got married in Lisbon this summer in the most beautiful ceremony, and so of course I had to make my bridesmaid dress 💙 I used McCalls 8475 to copy a dress I loved on Rent the Runway (but didn't come in blue and also cost $800) and used half of view A and half of view B to create the asymmetrical bodice. Two weeks ago I was invited to a black tie awards event and rather than doing what most people would do and buy a new dress, I figured that between all my work, volunteering and work responsibilities I would make a dress. A dress completely out of comfort zone, with a fabric I’ve not used before and at speed 😬 I’m glad I did it though, I absolutely love this dress and felt amazing in it! It was well worth all the late nights sewing and making adjustments and the drama trying to find the appropriate support to go underneath. Now, you’re wondering why no pics of the dress at the awards… well I didn’t make it 😭 There was an incident at New Street Station that meant all lines were blocked for over an hour and then it was utter chaos afterwards which meant I couldn’t get my connecting train out 😢 I had to give up at the point where I was 3 hours past when I was meant to be there.
