I lost track of how many hours I invested in this coat, but it was worth it! The pattern is a self-draft based very loosely on #v1990, with the collar and pockets based on the #v2052 and modified, and seam lines inspired generally by the mods I’d made to my double breasted #jasikablazer with slanted welt pockets. The coat I ended up with has no flare whatsoever below the waist, which was done specifically to highlight and show off the weave of the amazing vintage wool I got from @missymopfabrics years ago! I bought off all six or so yards she had of this true vintage wool, and sat on it waiting for exactly the right project! I flatlined the wool, which was a heavier suiting weight, with a cotton flannel to give it warmth and appropriate drape. The front panels are canvas to give proper shaping and structure to the lapels and collar. Lined in deadstock Burberry silk twill from @ebtfabrics

Outfit details🌸 my dress is in Flower Fusion a beautiful grosgrain fabric and I used a vintage McCalls pattern 5251 from 1959! I think the design still looks fresh and vibrant and the grosgrain gives a great swish. The jacket is a Julio Cesar design for Vogue number 2052 and I used a beautiful wool rayon blend, both fabrics sewed fabulously and were amazing to wear.
