Well, 2021 was certainly a mixed bag - but I got to finish the year in one of the most fun and meaningful ways as we celebrated my brother’s (very small, Covid-friendly) wedding!
My Mom and I decided to make flower girl dresses for my daughter and niece using a @simplicity_creative_group pattern (#s9246). I put the dresses together with my machine, and my mom did the fiddly handwork of attaching the diamanté trim and stitching the hems. The fabric we chose was a total nightmare to work with — the combination of stretch velveteen and stiff satin was really tough, especially with all of those gathers! But the end result was just SO sweet and the girls looked beautiful when they were walking down the aisle. All of my stress and swearing was totally worth it!
In the end, I can’t think of a better project to cap off a productive year of sewing. Wishing you all a happy 2022 filled with health, happiness, and lots of stitching time!
