Business at the front, party at the back! I finished this super cute dress just in time for Valentines Day and it was an absolute dream to sew ❤️ Amazingly I didn’t need to make any alterations to the fit or the length, and the only modifications were swapping the facing out for a full lining to protect the girls modesty 🍊🍊, and instead of elastic-loops-and-buttons closure for the top, I hand-sewed the majority (making sure I could still slip it over my head) and added a hook-and-eye at the neck. I had to resist the urge to bedazzle the edges of the heart with some sparkly trim and remind myself that I’ve gone with linen and this is a ‘casual’ day dress so maybe future-me will make a fancy version! Is it even February if you’re not sewing love hearts? 😜❤️ But seriously though, as soon as I saw this pattern #me2108 I was so excited to get started! I fully lined it instead of just facings so the girls 🍉 🍉 have full coverage because I’ll be limited with what to wear underneath with the cut-out back. But help! I feel like the front is a bit plain, or maybe it’s the fabric? Or just in comparison to the back? I’ve put three options at the end (excuse my crappy markup scribbles) 1. Front heart patch pockets 2. Grommets with a bow tied between them 3. Some gathering with ties hanging down (inspired by @veronicatuckerthelabel recent dress hack) What do you think? Or just leave it as is? Or do you have any other suggestions? Is this made for someone my age? Probably not. Will I have anywhere to wear it? Probably not. Will I figure out the whole bra issue so I can actually wear it someday? Probably not. But, it’ll be pretty cute hanging in my closet. Pattern: Simplicity ME2108. I didn’t realize it was a misses when I bought it (I guess the giant heart cutout could have been a give away that it’s made for a teenager) so I made the size 12 and it fits like a GLOVE. No hemming, no adjusting. A few wins here. The heart is symmetrical, I’m getting better and better with bias tape andddd any project that didn’t require a seam ripper basically means it’s perfect, soooo… 💁🏼‍♀️ The pattern did ask for understitching around the *inside lining of the heart, but I recruited Momma to look at it and we decided that wouldn’t keep it from flipping to the outside, so I dabbed a little liquid stitch in there and called it good! #simplicitypatterns #simplicity #me2108 #linenfabric #memade #thanksimadeit #memademay

Weekly round up featuring my wildly cozy Sherpa @smallmuseum_ #jonijacket because I can’t get enough!!!!! 🐑🎀 The best part about sewing your clothes is being able to make them completely customizable but when you think of too many options, it becomes paralyzing which is exactly what why I don’t have pockets yet! I’ve been slowly working on my #me2108 sew along! It’s turning out so cute!!! I love the color combo. I tried dyeing my own fabric and I have to admit, it was a process that I did not enjoy! It turned out cute but the dye did not take. I was hoping for a darker pink but it still cute and look stunning with the red lace trim! My pink #mobysweater is also what pink dreams are made of! For someone who makes so much pink, you would assume it’s my favorite color but it’s not! Last but not least, I’m pretty sure I sewed up my last sample of my off the shoulder top/dress and I might have fully graded it for 18 sizes! Ek!

#me2108 in this gorgina silver fabric from my faves @fabric.joint I tried the heart back but ended up hating it unfortunately :( I ended up swapping it out for a closed version.
